The voltage fluctuation while operating power windows, sunroofs is a normal thing in all the vehicals. If you want to verify, have a close look at the Instrument Cluster light intesity while operating the windows. You will see fluctuation in the cluster intensity when you operate the windows. But Headlight fluctuation is something new. I also never experience it earlier. Will check with my XUV too. The flutuation due to window operation should be ironed out through the headlight assembly ensemble I believe.

I checked it out. There was a very slight dimming of the headlights when operating the power windows. Nothing really noticeable. But something present if observed closely.

Exactly, it happens not just when you use both front windows but it also happens when using single window button. Never felt this ever in my other cars.

I dont think this is normal. Haven't experienced this anytime in any of my cars.
As per Ford, this is actually a cross check to assess whether all electricals are working fine.
"when operating any other equipment which draws load, there should not be any change in the characteristics of the other systems.
Eg: If you try to pull up the power windows normally or beyond completely pulled up state, there should not be any dimming of the instrument cluster lights or the headlight"

While we are discussing the headlight dimming a bit when powerwindows are operated, I do believe that may be there is a capacity issue with the electricals. I have seen the infotainment screen also flicker n number of times.

The newer XUVs (reduced GC ones) are reported to have an improved/different electrical system, so maybe it doesn't happen on the newer iterations. For the record, this dimming never used to happen till a month or two back.

Hello Guys, thought to share with you; yesterday during general check up SIREN ASSY got replace, though my complain was related to noise (seats/door/instrument cluster/suspension)

re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

Hey guys,

Noticed something new in my XUV while a casual cleaning excercise.
The rear left side corner of the bumper seems to be a little out of line than the right side counterpart. This has resulted in a noticeable gap betbeen the bumper and the light assembly/body panel on the rear left corner. Never noticed this earlier. There is absolutely no incident which would pressure on the rear bumper till date. Seems to be a original misalignment issue. Don't know if this is a 'general assembly' problem or a 'piece' problem. Have to check a couple of XUV's rear corners now.
Here are the snaps. First, the rear right corner...

I second that. All cars that I have driven having same behaviour. Winding up two window glasses at same time can create problem if the windows are very tight in the metal frame.

re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

In the XUV500_owners_manual there is a mention on page 8 in Smart power Window a function called Auto UP (for driver door only), The glass is supposed to move all the way up automatically without holding the switch.

This function does not work in my vehcile while the Auto DOWN works perfectly.

Has anyone tried this Auto UP function? Does it actually work?

Its a mistake in the manual. There is no auto-UP in XUV. The manual also mentions that the windows are anti-pinch. That is not correct either. The windows in XUV5OO are NOT anti-pinch.

One other mistake in the manual is that all internal lights will turn off automatically 3mins after locking the car to save battery. Except the centre light in the second row, no other lights turns off automatically. Have to switch them off manually. Checked it with the RM during the last visit and we tried it out in different cars. Same situation across. So manual is not correct for this also.

Ssadwelkar, while you are there check out regarding this also. Is a useful feature considering the number of times I forgot to switch off some internal light and the security calls me back.
