Somehow digital tacho's dont appeal to me. I'm all for the standalone analoge ones, with a 'red' line.

The second line makes it up. IMO, an eye of a true enthusiast, is at most times on the tacho, than on the other meters, even speed.

I like the 458's tacho better than the Enzo's. Aston Martin's reverse sweeping tacho is unique.

@greenhorn
Is it the prius?

Re: PICS : Celebrating the Rev Counter!

@Greenhorn - Was just thinking about it while going through the thread & you beat me to it

@JustCause - Completely agree with you. Love the design of the tacho on the 458. But you are wrong about greenhorn's post.
A Prius - ROFLMAO

@Ragingbull - I too love the Murcielago & the Aston tachos.
The Murcie's tacho is designed exactly to look like it - intimidating & aggresive.
While the Aston's counter-clockwise needle is something that looks spectacular when its speedo climbs clockwise.
Personally, i hate the Aventador's digital tacho. Too much clutter & no levels of depth, completely flat.

As for me, ill post some lovely videos here. Great on GTO to start this thread. Wonder why it never struck me. Have been collecting videos of tachos since as far as i can remember! Rated this thread 5 stars.

P.S. - For the curious, thats a RR Tacho. Since they are the epitome of luxury, they dont believe in doing things like mere mortals. They dont have a rev counter that shows you the limit of the engine, they have a "Power Reserve" counter that shows the miniscule amount you are using & the vast amount left in reserve

Re: PICS : Celebrating the Rev Counter!

Good observation there Akshay, though your right about it not being an M3, the obvious thing to notice is the fact that the fuel gauge under the speedo clearly says diesel We can call it DM3 instead of the M3!
On another note though, having a diesel M3 would be amazing now wouldnt it!

Coming back to tachos, i also love the new FIesta's tacho. Will be revving it in real life very soon hopefully.

Bugatti Veyron.

The irony of the M3 tacho picture is that the E92 is the first nonsupercar V8 that revs to 8000+ rpm

Re: PICS : Celebrating the Rev Counter!

Are the tachos different for diesel and petrol motors? I could not identify on seeing the tacho whether it is for a diesel or petrol car.

Re: PICS : Celebrating the Rev Counter!

What about the classic Honda S2000?

Simply love this car. This was the first Vtech car that I sat in. This thing just flies past the 6000 rpm mark.
