Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

Hi Guys,

I Need to order a clay bar. I am looking at greenz website. I am getting three options Gyeon, Angel Wax and optimum opti eraser. Which one do you suggest. First two are priced at par while the opti eraser is expensive as compared.

Opti eraser is a multi use clay alternative. You can wash & use it multiple times. Regular clay in most cases is one time use only, and you have to trash it if you drop it.

Thanks blackasta.

Any Idea how many times opti eraser can be used. Also only heavy grade is available. Shall I order that. ?

how many times opti eraser can be used - till it starts NOT being effective, which is why it all depends on how contaminated the car is, how big the car is etc. I would say for DIYers, you should be safe for the next 3-4 years.

Heavy grade is perfectly fine.

You can also look at the clay alternative towels for reaching nooks and crannies.

P.S - I have not used opti eraser. I use nanoskin autoscrub pads on my DA, and only discarded one after using it for 5-6 years.

You can also look at Ultima Elastrofoam, Though it is expensive, it is very easy to use, and lasts long.

I have been using this for last 3 years, and pretty happy with this product.

Below is the excerpt from http://www.premiumfinishcare.org/94-...detailing-clay
The Ultima Elastrofoam Paint Cleaning System was introduced in 2007 as an alternative to the traditional detail clay bar. The product is a rubberized foam block that works in the same way as detailing clay. Like detail clay, it removes bonded contamination from paint, glass, chrome and plastic, plus, it overcomes some of the inconvenience of detailing clay.
Most notably is the waste when ordinary detail clay is accidentally dropped and MUST be thrown away. Also, the inability to clean a clay bar when it becomes dirty makes the traditional detail clay lifespan very limited. If the Ultima Elastrofoam Block is dropped or becomes dirty, you can simply wash it off.
The Ultima Elastrofoam Paint Cleaning System falls in the mid-range between the medium and ultra-fine grades of detail clay so it is safe for removing everything from light paint overspray and normal surface contamination to light environmental bonded contamination.
Like clay, the Ultima Elastrofoam Paint Cleaning System quickly removes bonded surface contamination, preparing it for polishing and sealing. A single Ultima Elastrofoam Block will clean your car up to twenty times, making the Elastrofoam Paint Cleaning System more efficient than the traditional clay bar.

Thanks for the headsup ani_meher. Unfortunately the product is no longer available at that price. I tried ordering, but by the time I reached the payment stage, the price got revised to 6000/- with 21% discount. :banghead:
