Yes including Detailing otherwise it only becomes an expensive car wash. And when i mentioned the 3M prices i meant detailing or a similar job. Yes that includes rubbing and polishing and buffing, including interior cleaning. Ideally id like to get the interior steam cleaned as that would deodorize the interiors as well as take care of any insects that might be there( MIGHT )

Gogi, 3M has UV protect which includes full body wash, interior vacuuming, engine bay cleaning and dressing, tyres/black plastic polishing and he does a full wax for Rs.1,500 for Fortuner.

The full detailing is a multi step process that involves claying, rubbing, polish, wax, sealant. This is the one that will be 7-8K.

The plastic/ rubber trim on the door of my car has gone bad due to long exposure to the elements.
Is there some solution that can restore it back?

I tried cleaning it, but the material itself seems to have got damaged.

My 2 cents: pick only those products that you think you'll need. This package has a tire polish that I don't need. I have been cleaning my car myself for the last 3 years and never 'polished' the tyres. It's a personal choice nevertheless.

I suggest you start with just the basics- a decent car shampoo and a wax. You can build up your inventory slowly as you realize what you need.

I second shifu's opinion. Rather than buying a complete set of car care products from a single brand, try building your customised inventory by knowing what you actually need. To start off with go for these:

1. Car shampoo - Sonax/Amway/Muc-Off
2. Good quality MF's - Jopasu/Eurow/X Static - 5 nos. or more
3. Waterless wash concentrate - Proklear/ONR/UWWC
4. Rubber/plastic/vinyl protectant - Proklear TTD/STP Son of a Gun
5. Jopasu Duster
6. Good Quality wash mitt - Meguiar's/X Static
7. Couple of spray bottles to mix your WWC and use as QD

From there slowly start building your inventory with a good polish/compound, clay bar, wax, sealant and the list goes on

I am a little bit mad about keeping my 3 black cars and 1 silver SUV shining and detailed. Earlier I used to take surface treatments from dealers but that is expansive (4 cars!) and also almost always I was not happy with results. I got some stuff over my last 2 US trips and detailed my Outlander as below:
1. Wash using Sonax liquid wash
2. One coat Collinite 840 pre wax cleaner.
3. One coat Collinite 845 insulator wax.
4. After 15 minutes one coat of Formula1 wax.
5. Interior leather seats using Meguiar's leather conditioner and Formula1 vinyl spray on plastics.

I am almost happy with the job only windscreen needs addressing so I am planning to buy some glass polish (please advice on this).

Now, Here is my arsenal:
-ResQtech portable washer (with battery) 20 liters
-Autoright 6 inch battery detailing polisher
-Sonax Wash and wax
-BMW Wheel cleaning gel (best wheel cleaner I have ever used)
-BMW interior cleaner spray (vinyl)
-Meguiar's Ultimate Polish
-Collinite 840 (seems I can't use it on black colour cars)
-Collinite 845 sealant wax
-Mother's detail brush set
-Meguair's smooth surface clay kit
-Viking's premium wheel and rim wand
-Meguiar's supreme shine microfiber towel set
-6 inch bonnet set (to use with polisher)
-Turtle wax blackbox kit
-EagleOne 20-20 glass cleaner Aerosol spray
-Sonax Dirt Eraser
-Sonax Application sponge
-Sonax Anti mist glass cloth
-Meguiars Microfiber wash mitt
-Meguairs water magnet drying towel
-Turtle wax hard shell paste wax
-Turtle wax scratch and swirl remover
-Turtle wax Ice synthetic liquid polish
-Turtle wax chrome polish
-Audi polymer polish
-Audi Insect remover spray

-Audi anti-freeze washer additive (for my Himalayan rally)

Now dilemma is where to start

here is my check list, please feel free to correct it:
1. Wash using portable washer (my cars are in basement where running water is a challenge).
2. Clean alloy wheels using BMW gel.
3. Dry using Meguairs water magnet towel.
4. Clay
5. Meguiars ultimate polish (pre-wax) using DA polisher
6. Collinite 845 coat (by hand)
7. wait for 30 minutes
8. Turtle wax hard shell wax paste coat (apply by hand)
9. Remove and shine with polisher
10. Polish wheels using Turtle wax chrome and alloy polish.
11. Plastic/Vinyl parts polish using Audi or BMW plastic polish.
12. Leather polish using Meguiars leather conditioner.

Please let me know if the sequence is correct or if I have missed any step. I am missing a good paint sealant at step-6 which I will pick on my next US trip. I also plan to pick up detailer spray and few other Meguiars ultimate products.

The sequence is correct except for one step where you are applying formula 1 wax over collinite. Formula 1 is a OK quality wax which when put Over collinite will not help much. Instead stick to multiple layers of collinite. And between layers you have to give a curing time of 8 hours. Layering in 1 hour will not give results.

Layer collinite. Wax should come after sealant. Collinite is more of a sealant than a wax
2 layers of collinite with 8 hours curing time in between and turtle wax after a day or two is better

Just finished applying two coats of OCW on my 7 months old Ford Classic. The ease of application is simply superb and only a single spray does the job of coating a whole panel. Really impressed with the results considering the fact that the test subject is a white car









Tried Elastrofoam and Proklear TTD too and found both of them really effective and easy to use.

Now, the hunger for a proper sealant has begun. Planning to get UPGP/OS the next month and layer it with with OCW
