Its there before starting the engine and it goes off once engine is running.. Sounds normal to me.
Just cross posting my first service experience and cost here from
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...ml#post4098687
Asked for a no frills service and that is what I got. Total cost - Rs. 6069. This is a 1.2 MPi by the way. Does VW not do the lock cylinder lubrication or is it just not a billed item?

Yes, it is perfectly normal. It disappears once you start the engine :)

Next time, you could ask them not to top up the Windshield Cleaner(which is Rs 324). There are many other(better) concentrates which are much cheaper.
Generally, I ask them NOT do the following
- Windshield Cleaner
- Alignment and balancing
- AC disinfection
Few days back the spanner indicator lighted up in the MID so sent the car today to workshop. The last service on my 1.2 petrol was done on 12th may 2016 after which the vehicle had travelled 6,500kms. The SA told me that the company has changed the rules & now the vehicle is sent for service & inspection after 6 months! He said its a routine checkup where the scanning is done & fluids are checked that will cost around 750.
Any idea of such changes in service schedule from VW?

Ask him for:
1. 1st and 2nd service charges against your credit
or
2. Buy an armrest. That one accessory is something which has utility as well as comfort. For remaining credit, he can add Mud flaps and Mats with POLO lettering. |
Thanks for your reply.
I am more interested in the armrest. But since Polo TDI HL comes standard without the armrest, I am not sure if this will be available as a spare. In that case, should I ask for an armrest from new Polo All Star (may be difficult at this early stage), or Ameo, or Vento? Any ideas on which one fits the Polo set-up best? Sorry for asking too many questions! stupid:

The armrest is not available as standard fitment even in the GT TSI or TDI. Yes the Ameo or the Vento armrest should be a direct fit as the seat design is same.

Not sure if the arm rest from Ameo or Vento can be used on Polo TDI. They have rear ac vents but the Polo HL does not stupid:

Back in the old days, when dashboards were not display units, there used to be two lights, one red one green. They would come on when the ignition was turned on, This indicated that all was well so far. If they
stayed on, or came on when driving, this indicated that something important was
not well,
One light was for the electrical system, the other for oil pressure. I'm not sure now which was which!
Electrics light (green?) mean no charging; Oil light meant low or failed oil pressure.
Before actually starting the engine, it would be normal to have no charging or oil pressure,
after starting, it would be a fault. Checking that the lights went off was part of the starting procedure.
Now we have pictures of batteries and spanners and stuff, and all these graphics, which the designers think are more intuitive than warning lamps and words, actually... are not.
Who else sometimes finds themselves staring at the "pictures" on toilet doors, wondering which one to enter?
stupid:
But I'm not alone. And in some ways. I preferred the old days when things were
spelt out for us!

A little off topic but I suspect this is due to products being more international.
Some American cars still spell out each function on the buttons and warning lamps but sadly, this is quite useless if you don't speak English!

Or, to put it another way, a chance for manufacturers to save money with a single version.
But point taken, it is not all bad. It
is something that I could get in a car in any country in Europe, even though I only speak the language of one, and drive it.
On the wrong side of the road! :uncontrol
My 2y old Polo TDI is nearing 60000km service in the coming week. I'm seriously scared to give the car to ASC since last 2 service experience was a horrible one. I'm planning to meet the service manager before giving my vehicle for service. I thought I'll tell him to look into my vehicle as he knows well about my bad experiences. I don't whether he will help me out. Since 1 month I'm experiencing a strange thud than the usual one from the left front side while going through uneven roads and there is a humming sound when I turn the steering to extremes at slow speed. These are the only two complaints other than the periodic service. Any idea about diesel gate fix? When I checked in the app, my VIN comes under the recall. But I haven't received any updates from VW though.
2nd Year service for my GT TSI : 19,000
Horribly high, but oh well I got them to waive off consumables and it came to 18.5
This includes Disc+Pads
BUT :
AC filter I had got my own
NO washer fluid
NO alignment etc
Really pinches a bit tbh
The lock carrier is being replaced now. Also there was some talk about replacing the cabin filter at 30k kms , That is really sad. I replace it once every two months, the air we live in is really bad. Air filter i get changed at 6m/7.5k mark, now planning on doing the same with the oil filter.
Bill :
Labour service : 1887
Br pad: 461
disc :519
gff:579
Parts:
Oil :3854
Oil F:670
Plug: 172
Air:392
Seal:30
Disc:4348
Pads:1844
Cap (wiper) 200
Spark Plugs 3511
Total 18,501
Kms done 21,400 (first service was at 9k kms )
Why were your discs replaced so soon? ~20k is too early for your pads let alone your discs. All assuming that you don't drive like a jailbird who just escaped from prison.

3rd set of pads and 2nd set of discs.
With the second set being of motorsport pads that cost 8k, availability issues this time so went with the stock pads at 1.8k. The next set will be EBC yellows. Stock disc is good, but pads are crap, they just fade.
Maybe this answers your question:

Also my apollos lasted 10k kms before they started showing cracks. On maxxis ipros and in the 10k ive run them, they have the sidewall pretty bad. Will share pictures when I get back the car from the dealer (Lock carrier replacement)
