Charges would depend on the service that needs to be carried out but surely they will be far more reasonable compared to ASS.

They should be able to give you a ballpark figure over a call.

Please do not treat the below message as if I am complaining that you gave me the wrong reference point. You did the right thing, just that I encountered a different situation. The below update is just for everyone's consideration.

My sincere apologies

I am waiting for a quotation from Code6 (a random quote is 12K for general service, it is expensive, I believe), and I have been in touch with them since 14:00hrs.

The person named Sharath seems to be a nice guy but their service manager Nishanth, nah. He does not know customer handling. They do not know how much an engine oil will cost. Initially, they said Addinol Oil might cost around 6-7K (4Ltrs) - when they were justifying the service cost of 12K; later, they quoted 4.8K and now 5.4K. Not sure how they are determining the cost of the Oil.

Let's wait for the formal quote to take a call.

I also contacted the Engineering Exponent team, and they quoted 10K (randomly). I did not check further as they do not have a slot open until next week. It looks like I need to check with them and come back. Hopefully, they will have something concrete while updating customers.

Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

Hello Shailinder,

The Code 6 experience is similar to what I had, when I reached out to them a couple of years back.
Would recommend Carsmith motors, Behind Agara lake. Try reaching out to them on phone to get the finer details.

Regards.

Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

My Polo TDI has recently completed 6 years of ownership and I have estimated total expenses from day 1. (Service cost 15k includes 3M wash and AC cleanup etc)

I have been more than happy with my car and performance.

Here are the cost breakdown

Total expenses - 17,15,000

Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

Need suggestions related to a new problem I’m facing.

I have an 8 yr old VW Polo GT that’s done about 30k kms. Recently I notice the shifts between P-N-D-S have become much smoother (doesn’t give that minor click effect between shifts) and also that the car is moving forward by a few inches even after putting it in P mode. (Moving by 4-6 inches but much much more than it’s moved in these 8 yrs).

Could this be early signs of a transmission issue? And should I be taking it to the garage? Anyone else faced this problem in the VW automatics?

Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

Full Body repaint ?

Hi Guys,

I own a VW polo 1.5 TDI CL 2016 variant, recently a delivery vehicle(Tata Ace) rammed while it was parked outside my house.

The entire passenger side is scraped badly. I am getting the rear door replaced, quarter panel cut and replaced with a new part and the entire passenger side is getting repainted as well. The bodyshop person suggested to go with a full body repaint and pay the difference amount which is approx 35k. Is this price worth going for a full body repaint on a 7yr old car ?

The car has done 70k so far and has been niggle free, I intend to keep it for at least another 3 years

Depends on the work quality of the bodyshop. Very few bodyshops will give you OEM quality, so suggest not to touch the original paint if it is not damaged.

Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

Anybody have a clue on where one can source the Rear view mirror adjustment switch with folding function( 6RF 959 565 C REH ). VW quoted Rs. 4.5k + labour to replace it which seems like a scam considering the same switch without the folding function(6RF 959 565 B REH) goes for ~800/- on boodmo. Surely that one extra position isn't worth an extra 3.5k by itself. The Skoda version of the auto folding ORVM switch exists( 5J5 959 565 A REH ) and costs 'only' 1.7k but I'm fairly certain that it lights up green.

So yeah, thats where I'm at. Any help is much appreciated.

VW loves to loot whenever and wherever it is possible. Central AC vents without chrome cost Rs 2600, but with chrome (highline version), it costs Rs 5600. Unfortunately, due to the lack of proper availability of parts outside, VW service centers are the only option.

No mate. Skoda ones light up dim yellow. You can try giving it a shot. Here is a picture for your reference.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Off late I see that even rare Skoda items have also shot up in prices.

I know, right. It wouldn't feel so bad if the basic switch didn't cost nearly 6 times less. Its just ridiculous.

Thanks, that helps a lot man. The yellow seems pretty alright. I think I'll order this, maybe I'll just swap out the PCB from my red one if I find the yellow too distracting.

Also, the VW switch is upto 4.9k now, smh.

Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

Guys, please do check ebay.com for parts. Like Aliexpress, eBay is now stocking all those parts and are shipping to India (with Malaysia and other country of origin mentioned in the shipping stickers).

This is a cheap alternative - https://www.ebay.com/itm/374616171325

Has the heating option but if you can live with it, it’s a cheap alternative to OE parts. Works well. You get buyer protection too if it doesn’t work or the parts don’t reach you.

Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

I have to go out for three months.

Should I disconnect my polo battery?
What could be the issues in disconnecting?
Will I be able to open my car using key after battery is disconnected?
Will there be some ill-effect to the on-board computer?

Please advice.

I wouldn't. Three months is a short time. I've left cars even for six months.

I would disconnect the Negative just in case if the battery is weak and would discharge.
The ECU would reset itself; apart from that, don't see any issues cropping up.
