mooza an inevitable problem with the Scorp's is the water splashing on the windscreen. I have seen this problem with the Sumo's and thought the Scorp's would have been rid of this, apparently I guess not.

There is nothing much you can do to get rid of this because of the fact that the grooves on the roof is tapered to the front windshield. Like you said, its a design problem.

when the handbrake is on the console LED glows as a warning
and of course the brake lights in the rear come on when the handbrake is pulled up.

the brake lights staying on even after the brake pedal is released is a switch problem more than anything else. im sure it can get fixed at the local garage.

water on the windscreen - yes this is certainly a design issue.
frankly it used to happen in my Bolero too, despite its flat roof and rain channel provision.

the water splashing onto the windscreen when one goes through large puddles is also an irritating design flaw. in my case this is heightened by the fact that the offset on my alloys is slightly more than the standard ones, which causes the tyres to stick our a bit - nice for cornering in the hills but a bl***y pain when travelling in wet conditions on account of this water splash issue. the poor wiper has to work double quick to get rid of all the water and muck that hits the windscreen.
this also used to happen in my Bolero. looks like an issue with all vehicles from the mahindra stable.

further irritant is that the rear wiper is not there in an Lx version - and this is also a pain because the rear window gets pretty dirty when driving and one has to constantly wipe and clean it when one makes a stop.
same thing in the Bolero Sportz which I had.

Shankar, the rear brake-lights do not come on with application of the hand brake.

shankar to prevent the rear brake lights staying on, I am sure if I spray WD 40 on the brake light activator somewhere connected to the brake pedal, that can be overcome. But can you say where this switch is? Somewhere in the under body or within the engine bay?
Just wanted to avoid a drive to the A.S.S. thats about 15kms away from my place just for this simple problem.
The water and muck splash on the windscreen is a genetic defect of the Mahindras. I even faced this with the CJ4A/500D during monsoon offroading. But these had American designed bodies. The Scorpio is very Indian.

Check near the brake pedal itself - it's a switch that needs to get activated as soon as you press the brake.

The problem can also be a faulty switch. I dont think it is a WD-40 solvable problemm

Like Shankar said, you can also try a Local garage -does not have to be the A.S.S for this one.

Anjan, i too faced a similar problem of brake light staying on even after switiching off the engine. Didnt get it rectified for a couple of days, and this led to another small problem on a mumbai ratnagiri drive that i did shortly afterwards.
At times on that drive, around 10-12 times in all, felt momentary losses of power with the engine check light coming on for a few seconds each time.
Showed it to Mahindra guys in ratnagiri, and after hooking on the laptop, they were able to corelate the 2 issues.
The brake switch is located below the steering column, somewhere next to the bonnet release lever. There was a small rubber beading, around 2mm thick, that had fallen off and causing the brake switch to make at times even when the brakes were not pressed on.
The same issue was causing the ECU to believe that i am trying to brake the vehicle in running condition when i actually was not, thus leading to temporary losses of power.
The guy just put another rubber beading in place, and both issues were sorted out for good.

maybe then in my Scorpio that bit is defective - because I distinctly remember that the lights came on a few days ago when my father parked it and pulled the handbrake. But when the vehicle was switched off the lights also went off.
could be my mistake - maybe my dad trod on the brake pedal as well - will check again today by myself.

I will check this evening and post where this brake light pedal switch is.
and yes - its much easier to get this attended to by a local mech rather than the main service centre. faster and cheaper (possibly free even)

Brake pedal switch is mounted on the suspended pedal with a M8x1.25 nut.

This is a major design flaw with the Scorpio, they have tried unsuccessfuly to stem it by redesigning the front bumpers with an overhang in front of the tyres but the water still splashes full force on the windshield, I have experienced a 100 % temporary vision loss on account of this couple of times in the Mumbai rains, thank fully there were no other vehicles in front at that time.

On the brakes I have this strange issue / clicking noise coming whenever I press the brake pedal. M&M has not been able to pinpoint and solve it for the last 9 months. Now they have closed the request saying tht it is the brake switch and since it does not impact brake performance it can be left as is. Any one else who has the same issue / solution.

Further there is a major wobbeling in the vehicle at speeds in excess of 60 KMPH, this has been under investigation for almost an year now and till now M&M has tried solving by:

1. Wheel Balancing
2. Wheel Alignment
3. Replacing the engine mounts
4. Replacing the tyres (as they got damaged due to misalignment)

Nothing has worked, any pointers on this.

Must be happening in all Scorpios (because of the roof design, I think) ? This does not happen in any of my other cars, as the roofs slope away in other directions, particularly sideways.

Any suggestions to divert this water away, before it trickles down the windscreen ? It would be good to get rid of this minor irritant, which makes me keep fiddling with the windshield wiper knob more often than I need

I believe you experience this wobbling sensation through the steering wheel, assuming your Scorpio to be a 2wd, this looks like a case of low speed shimmy. Does this increase as your speed increases? If all the points mentioned above are found to be OK, it is possible that your hub and rotor assembly are out/unbalanced, get both wheels checked for these.

How about showing the problem to some good wheel alignment specialists in Mumbai, if your Scorp is out of warranty ? Also, do test runs on a dyno help in pinpointing such problems ? Maybe dyno gurus could give some feedback .

For the rain water coming from the top while braking, I was thinking about adding some rubber beading on top of the windshield, with grooves facing upwards (don't know if it's possible to get such a beading, though).

Yesterday, the tire temp and pressure indicator started with a buzzer and kept of flashing for few second and and then went back normal, I checked the tire for which it was flashing everything was/is normal, have anyone faced this problem? I don't know why the suddenly it went into panic mode and after few second went back normal, is this indication of tire temp/pressure sensor malfunction?

This has happened with the spare wheel with me. That time it was because of low pressure in the spare.

After a while, when things got sufficiently warm or for some other reason, the buzzer stopped.

Any answers/solutions to this, anyone?
