my scorpio's AC is emitting a strange whirring sound since yesterday (sounds as if some moving/rotating/vibrating part is in contact with the dashboard).
strangely, the sound increases with blower speed. taken an appointment with Global gallarie tomorrow, since they had fixed the AC issue last time!

the AC noise was because many leaves got sucked into the AC blower & that was making the noise. my car is parked under a tree which showers its blessings on my scorpio every morning. however, as a goodwill gesture, mahindra has replaced the blower free of charge & also without any labour charge. though it was advised to us that mahindra is not entitled to replace the blower under warranty under such circumstances.

Cost: Rs. 60/- for cleaning AC Filter.

I remember you had this problem last time a few months back. Did the same problem recur again? Would be better if you cover the air intake vents with a portable plastic cover (that will have to be designed by you) while parking under the tree.

no! that was a different issue. that time it was a squeaking noise & it was because of a faulty blower. that time, i had ASSUMED it could be because of the leaves but i was wrong!

this time it was a grinding noise & it was indeed the leaves!

both times, mahindra replaced the blower without any charge.

now i park my car in reverse such that the leaves fall on the roof of my car. i hope this will solve the problem.

I dont have any idea what this is.
Can the experts point out what this might be? Also does someone has a master list of engine error codes for Scorpio CRDE?

OBDII codes are standard, look here for more information

I cannot find the thread, but I read a post that talked about a slant in a new Scorpio. I think my Scorp is also titled! When viewed from the back, on level ground, the roof is not parallel to the ground. Help!

I also have a question on the provision for rear fog lights on headlight lever. I think this would be an excellent thing to add. However, when I looked at the tail lights, there was no empty socket:Shockked: Has anyone made use of this provision?

I intend to use it to signal cars tailing me with their high beams on. You'd agree with me that this is an irritant as the beams are reflected into the eyes by the rear view mirrors on the sides as well as the one inside.

@triedeverything - it is torsion bar adjustments that they do to remove the slant in 4wd scorps. cant recall is yours a 4wd as well?

No - mine is a 2wd.

are you sure about this? take a thread or a wire & measure the distance of the base of the rear bumper (left side) to the ground & then the right side. you will come to know the difference.

you can ask the A.S.S. In my opel astra, there is no extra socket but the existing brake light glows brighter if you switch on the rear fog light switch. it was factory fitted.

i agree to this. but i doubt a puny brake light bulb can do anything against a 60W bright headlight!

as i said in the ownership thread of my old scorpio non-CRDe, it is suffering from high engine noise & vibration. even the NVH of a tempo seems to be better now. it has done 1.9 lakh kms till now.

it was taken to the A.S.S & they have "assumed" two causes-
1) it needs a fuel pump servicing which costs 7-8k.
2) the timing chain along with pulley (mine is the older model & does not have the new timing belt) needs replacement at 20k.

i feel the engine foundation/mounts needs replacement too (that can be the cause of the vibrations inside the cabin). 1.5 years back, when the car was in mumbai (before it was sent to kerela), the mumbai's A.S.S had also told us the mounts need replacement. strangely, the mahindra A.S.S in kerela feels that it is not necessary.

another problem is that the A.S.S does not guarantee that doing the above will reduce the noise & vibration. the A.S.S recommended us NOT to change the timing chain right now since it is expensive & changing it may not solve the issue.

i need your suggestion guys. what do you think?

1) will a fuel pump service solve the noise & vibration issue?
2) should the engine mounts be changed?
3) is it necessary to change the timing chain? it has already been changed once in mumbai at about 80,000 kms.

Change engine mounts FIRST in that list. Should have been changed much earlier.

Proper way which is followed at A.S.S is to use a metal / plastic scale to measure from lowest point below the suspension that is the metallic base plate below coil springs to level ground.

Same should be repeated for front suspension as well.

If they are not equal or more then prescribed value then Shim adjustment needs to be done.

Take care of this at priority because it may eat up tyres.

Hello guys, my Scorpios headlight has been broken. Can somebody let me know the price of the Scorpio headlight.

thanks for the reply red. yes, i will change the mounts ASAP.

also, do you think a fuel pump service can decrease the engine sound & vibrations?

As suiggested change engine mounts first to reduce the overall vibrations. Fuel pump servicing will reduce only Fuel pump related (if any) noise, engine vibration might reduce to some extent but will not be noticable.
