I guess there is a problem with the switch get it checked this is a common Mahindra issue specially the switch to AC relay wiring section. |
I got my AC Cooling Coil Replaced and Compressor Serviced with new Bearings, New Oil. At that time the antifreeze switch (Behind the Dashboard which makes a Tak Tak Sound when it cuts off) failed and the AC Repair shop replaced it with a local Thermostat switch with a variable temperature knob.
A few weeks after this complete AC job my AC compressor would not come on randomly. It seemed there was an electrical fault and randomly the Compressor was not getting the Earth connection through the fuse / Relay / and the Anti Freeze Switch. Whenever the AC would not come on I would remove the AC Clutch Relay and Fuse and put them back a few times and it would come on.
On my drive back from Dhalousie on Sunday the AC compressor failed again.
On reaching Delhi I took the Scorpio to a very good electrician at the FNG and he said that the local thermostat switch (Installed instead of the Anti-Freeze Switch) is breaking the connection. I remembered shorting the 2 wires going in and out of the antifreeze switch and that also randomly got the Compressor to turn on.
Yesterday he cut the connectors of the Anti Freeze Switch and shorted them and the AC is working fine for now. We have decided to let it run like this for a few days, and if we feel the problem is resolved we will install a new Original Anti-Freeze switch without a temperature variable knob with new connectors to the 2 purple wires.
It's been a tough one to resolve this AC failure issue.
HVK Sir is your Anti Freeze Switch making a Tak Tak sound and cutting off the compressor after the temperature is low ?
There are 4 small relays in the fuse box. The top one is of the AC Clutch, and the Fuse 22 is the 10Amp fuse of the AC Clutch.
I would recommend that you Replace the The Top AC Relay with any one of the next 3. They are for fog light etc. You will know if the relay is not working and so due to that excessive current is making the fuse blow out.

What I faced in the Thar, a similar system was constant trigerring of the relay due to a faulty switch there was nothing wrong with the relay as such.

Coil inside the compressor was burnt out, hence it was shorting & blowing out the fuse. Why it happened - no one can really say, but if you recall, the illiterate mechanics in M&M ASC Sutaria Auto in Belgaum had pottered around unnecessarily with my AC compressor loosening all kinds of nuts & I suspect that this damage has happened due to those mess-ups there.
I have my Mr Reliable AC repairs man in Thane. I visited him yesterday. My first suspect was that the solenoid switch (t the compressor coil) was shorting and causing the fuse burn outs - since AC was working fine otherwise (cooling, etc). But after checking that wire, it was ruled out & the compressor coil was the suspect. Removing the AC compressor is not an easy task, but after taking it off, the coil was found to be totally bereft of enamel coating. This explained the strange plastic burning smell that I had inside my cabin last 2 days - it was the enamel burning off. The clutch plate was found to have lots of scoring due to the problems with disengagement.
We changed the coil and the clutch plate - these are easily available. When refitted back, the gas started leaking. First spit was the O-Ring in the compressor body. Then the main hose crimping was found to have gone, so I ended up changing the O-Ring, oil seal (inside the compressor body) and the hose.

People like Atlas & Shetty Motors - these are the ones who stock Scorpio parts in Bombay - are living in some medieval age. They do not know that modern mankind has invented things like Part Numbers for vehicle components - they inisist on seeing the "sample" - meaning I have to take out the part and take it to them before the high & mighty there deign to sell a part across the counter....:Frustrati
Honestly, I think it is a better idea to go shop for parts in the used parts bazaar in Kurla - there is a shop called Jan seva who stocks most parts of the Scorpio. Such is the state of affairs of India's large car company which is with you "hamesha". Moreover, I would trust buying the used car parts from Kurla than the M&M-authorised dealers |
Hi. Most vendors do not sell you tata and mahindra spares as they have a number of variants fitted for each model. Water pump of Scorpio May befitted in xylo with 6 notches and belt running on 5. Same is case with clutch plate and many other spares like clutch master and slave kit. Sometimes it's made for ingenio ( usually cheaper) and sometimes of Scorpio.
Once in my tata indigo I had to and change the clutch as many as 3 times ( all tata oem packings) no less.
As far as mahindra spares are concerned try Gupta automobiles at kurla. He is situated on lbs road opposite an eatery called Deluxe and it is very close to equinox plaza at bkc road and lbs road junction.
This guy is known in that area as 'dhotiwala' .Gentleman charges a premium over mrp for some difficult ones but keeps 100 percent genuine spares. And is knowledgable about mahindra machines.

haha, found another document on "Internet" about M&M oil prices Jan14 (supplied by IOCL). mentioned dealer and customer prices !

I need to change the battery in my car (Scorpio LX Mhawk). I plan to book from Batterybhai.com. I found 2 options, sort of confused as to which one to take
Option:1 - Exide FMI0-MI700 - 65AH - Applicable for VLX Diesel 5500 with old battery
Option:2 - Exide FEF1-85D26R(ISS) - 80AH - Applicable for Microhybrid models 5250 with old battery
My current battery is Exide (OEM) 6526RMF.
Can the experts point me to the right option please
Regards,
Diwakar
Go for Amaron. Battery Bhai sells it look for it under Scorpio VLX it is the best, much better than excide.
Go for Amaron there are 3 versions in Amaron for 80AH flo, go and highway.
FLO Hhas 24 + 24 months warranty go has 18 + 18 and highway has lesser.
Dealers try to push highway but try getting flo or go. I purchased from
www.carbatteryexpert.com for 5250Rs COD and service was good.
Batterybhai.com was selling AMARON highway for same price and their guy did not turnup to install for 2 days and local dealer was quoting full 1000rs more.
For a Scorcpio VLX the OE battery is 65 AH right ?
Does the 80 AH version ( Amron ) fit properly in the OE battery plate and frame ? Is the outer case dimension of 65AH and 80 AH the same ?
Faced a unique problem than the usual with tyretronics. The FL tyre shows a type pressure of 24.2 with the accompanying beeps and warnings. But when I manually checked the tyre pressure, it shows 32 psi. What is the possible solution to this problem.
I've been just muting the beep sounds since the last 2 weeks.
For TPMS problems do a L5 reset. This is available on the instruction manual. If the beep sound is still there, then the sensor is faulty and consider replacing it.

I have kind of this issue. But no beep sound. It shows 37 but actually it's 30.
My car is in extended warranty now scheduled to expire in a couple of months. Recently I went to M.A.S.S. to check the state of my slave cylinder as I was experiencing some clutch problems before. I was told point blank that the Brake and Clutch do not form part of warranty / extended warranty. Is this true?
According to them only option I have is to do a clutch overhaul activity which would mean a dent of 20k in my wallet. I am thinking of going into another M.A.S.S for second opinion. Wanted to check with the experts out here.

Really, that's good news, I am having to live with a water fall over the windscreen every time I cross a large puddle and Navi Mumbai is full of those these days with the intense rains.
