Re: Mahindra Scorpio : Issues & Solutions

HI All,
I have a 2011 mhawk SLE and has done 40K Kms. The left front power window has stopped working. It twice stopped working before and all i saw is the mahindra service guys open the door panel and hit hard with a hammer ( i hate this and the service personals do not have any consideration for the vehicle parts at all).
Suddenly the glass loosens and it starts working. After a few hours/days it will stop working again. I am trying to find a permanent solution for this. Is there anything i can do DIY to solve this?
Anyone had similar issues which were resolved successfully?

Guys,

Its due to carbon dust accumulation on the motor core.By hammering it dust flies and motor works, again after some days the same law applies.

No need an hammer , just pat it with palm on the door pads it will start working.

This proves that god is there .. Enjoy.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio : Issues & Solutions

Even I am facing the same problem. Front passenger window does not open and also the rear right door cannot be opened from inside. Scorpio has no child lock then why is the door stuck ? Will take it to Mahindra service.

Scorpio has child locks. Unlike most cars where you move a small lever, Scorpio has a small red button kind of thing near the latch. You have to use your key or something similar to push it in and turn. While this is difficult to use, it should prevent accidental usage. Do check if someone has fiddled with this.

As has already been clarified, the Scorpio does come with child locks on the rear doors. In case this is not the culprit, it may be a problem with the cable for the door lever from the inside. Usually they remove the lever from the inside and apply some lubrication using WD40 to the cable to allow free movement. It happened on my Scorpio when new on the driver's side door. I wasn't able to open it from the outside, but could open from the inside. Was a sight to behold when I was out alone and needed to open the door.

Yes, this issue is fixed.
This was because music system wire had knocked off the power to the ECU. After this repeated start attempts had immobilized the vehicle.
The SA told there was some skinning done on the ECU power wire.
They took 1 day to find the problem, inspite of me telling the music system is went down the same time.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio : Issues & Solutions

I am facing a couple of issues:

1. The Nippon music system continues to be disconnected on account of it draining the battery. The estimate for repairs is 3800 Rs. I am not sure that it is worth going for it.
- The CD assembly seems to be disbalanced as a result the songs
get skipped / not played. (1200/-)
- The USB / SD card IC is shot (900/-)
- Power IC / Plate shot (1200/-)
- Service Charges (500/-)
2.The Clutch makes a sound of Tak-Tak every time it is depressed

Need inputs please

I woud have the ICE replaced with something better so that the money spent feels worth it.

Take an estimate of the Nippon repair from multiple places and I m sure you can get it done cheaper. How much does a new unit cost?

Is the clutch sound not the result of a worn out clutch spring or a bush at the pedal?

Sounds like the infamous pinion bush/bearing, been through that too .

Currently the driver side power window is having it's mood swings and decides to get stuck half way.A mild pull of the glass and it gets rolling.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio : Issues & Solutions

Pain owning one of these (owned only jap cars before this).
list of issues faced as follows. Car model Sep 2012 SLE done 7000 kms till date.

1. Right wiper stopped working, nut fell off.
2. Head rests rattle all of them.
3. radio Antenna unscrewed itself and fell off.
4. gear shift faux leather shroud cracking and tearing.
5. Fuel remote opener did not work last evening at the gas station (even the manual lever did not work,..Had to pry it open).

my boss was like "they put this car together with toothpicks or what"... :(

I guess Tata and Mahindra are ticked off as companies never to touch EVER again..........
