Re: Mahindra Scorpio : Issues & Solutions

For the past few days my Scorpio has been suffering from a strange problem. While driving sometimes the car doesn't respond to the throttle input. It behaves like someone has shut down the engine. After a few seconds, or if I try pumping the throttle it comes back to life. It happens at most random of times.

I showed the car to service centre and they did a short test drive and at that time the problem didn't surface. After that I went on a trip of about 250 kms and the problem showed up about 5 or 6 times.

My car has run 78K kms and had the last service done at 70K kms. Since we have an i20 at home which we use as our primary car, Scorpio just gets to run about 30-50 kms a week.

Could someone please help me with this.

Sounds simple, the Throttle Pedal/Position Sensor has malfunctioned or has a loose connection making the issue difficult to replicate at will.
Get the ASC to check that using a laptop/manually and the rest should be ok.

Mhawk is a 2.2 lit common rail diesel
Meagle is a 2.5 lit common rail diesel
Nef 2.6 crde is a 2.6 lit common rail diesel
Thanks for your input.
So this means in both modes AC HI & LO, the temperature controller knob is bypassed ? I doubt. Then why would M&M give the knob at all - only for switching from cooling to Heating?

For the engines, the Thar has a CRDe but the cubic capacity is 2498cc. Does that mean its equipped with MEagle?

The figures spkingsley has mentioned are when the temparature control knob is set to max cooling. If you change the settings there, the thermostat/compressor switch will cut off earlier, depending on the setting you have chosen.

You could call it the MEagle though the "dress levels" are different.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio : Issues & Solutions

To all the 2003 pre crde scorpio owners.

This model suffered from a very bouncy ride and bad brakes . I have got some parts changed .

Changed the front coil springs to the scorpio Mhawks
Front shocks to the Mhawks
Scorpio CRDE brake booster
CFL rear leaf springs
Iron man shocks in the rear.

The ride is excellent now, can compare it to the landcruiser prado.
Brakes have become very effective.
Can really push the vehicle ,brake late ,take fast corners and its totally transformed.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio : Issues & Solutions

Hi 2 minor issues cropped up recently in my mHawk.

1. The front passenger dorr window is creaking while winding up and down and an oily line is forming in the middle. I opened up the door panel yesterday but couldnt find anything touching, except for a slightly loose winding cable.

2. The 3rd position of the AC control knob is not working, the AC / Fan works fine in positions 1,2 & 4.

Please advise options.

Mine is a nearly 3 year old mhawk VLX 4X4. The micro-hybrid has stopped functioning. Not that I use it too much. Would welcome some advice please.

Multiple reasons.
1. The MicroHybrid switch could have gone kaput.
2. Some wire somewhere could have gotten disconnected.
3. There could be SW error in the module.

Get it hooked up to a laptop and checked, should be easy to pin point.

Common problem - the clutch pedal position sensing switch needs replacing. Not an expensive or time consuming proposition.

Does the lid lock into place? Is the container not cracked/punctured anywhere?

No doesn't seem so, maybe there is a leak in the actual reservoir, actually this is the first time I was filling it on my own the wash/wipe fluid never run out in the last 20 months of ownership.

Hi Can you give us a rough idea of the cost of these modifications ?
Did you get this done at an Authorized Mahindra place or outside ?

I feel there is a problem with the contact for the switch at the position 3. I dont see any other reason which can cause this.
