Oye,pikkcharrs kidhar hey?Wheres BT and his photographs?Lots of guys took loads of pictures,both of Man and Machine.

Nice HOT meet...it was a stupendously hot and humid day .Nice venue,ok food and good adda as usual was the hallmark,but at the end the meet was a success.

Initially all of us met at the IOC Petrol Pump near AJC Bose Road flyover.As usual I was late,as I had to finish my rounds at the hospital.Phone calls started coming in,where was I.

We left for Motel Midway around 12.20pm,and the drive in the scorching Sun with the AC full blast on wasn't of much help,as the distance was very little.

We reached the venue one after another,and as usual demonstrations started for what not - ICE,Horn,LED Blue Lights,etc as well as introductions with new attendees.After sometime all of us went inside the hotel as the heat outside was unbearable.Having ordered cool refreshments and chicken kebabs,we felt a bit relieved.Continuous adda,along with lunch which was subsequently ordered,went on.

Finally after food it was time for a photoshoot,but deciding on the venue for taking pictures took some time.We all parked our cars on the NH-6 at an angle,but then decided that it was getting scary as because huge trucks were whizzing by.We decided to go to a different location for the photo opportunity(Kona Expressway Truck terminus).

Finally photos were taken in a formation and we said adios to everybody very quickly.

PS: Me,NOS P and Ronk went for a little sojourn ourselves.

PS2: I finish off,as pictures would speak a thousand words more.

FYI - Kolkata on 19th April 2009 recorded the highest temperature in 14 years (i think it was 41.* degrees yesterday and it is supposed to get hotter in the next few days) - followed by widespread load-shedding.

as usual - i forgot to take pics of the members. it was great meet and thanks to all who made it to the meet

A first timer's log:

Sequence of events: It was an excruciatingly hot day which saw us meet at the IOC Petrol Pump in Park Circus. I was the first to reach there, accompanied by my Missus, as well as a petrolhead friend (Arindam Sen)who we can shortly expect to see as a member on TBHP.

Evo, CaptDey and Toiing came almost immediately afterwards. I could recognize all from their cars, and we had a nice initial chat while waiting for the others to come in. Very soon, the following rolled in - NOS Power, Planet, Ronk, Debdeep and Ultimatechamp (last to come in). With UC's arrival, the convoy of 9 cars made swift progress towards the venue (Motel Midway).

MM is just off NH6. We were met there by ADC, BTirthankar and 1100D. The cars looked wonderful, parked in the MM parking lot under the blazing sun.

What followed was a short discussion on everyone's wheels. 1100D (the man) shared his vast mechanical knowledge about 1100D (the car) engines with us. Daktar (UC) gave a demo of the vast electrical mods on his Zen Estilo. Evo's 200BHP Octavia VRS, with a Stage1 Performance Kit, Brilliant Blue 2K paint and other mods was suitably shown off. Some people took interest in my verna's alloys. In short, it was a petrolhead's heaven.

The oppressive heat soon made us run for cover inside the restaurant though. Thirsty throats and hungry stomachs were treated to Fresh Lime Soda and Tandoori Chicken. Here the discussion turned to more social topics. There were some first timers, both Tbhpians (Me and CaptDey, for starters) and potential Tbhpians (Arindam and my wife). The others made sure we quickly felt at home with them. UC and 1100D particularly had us in splits with their quick wit.

Post lunch we regrouped at the Parking lot. Lots of plans got made for post-lunch drives (I remember one suggestion to drive to Shaktigarh). But again, the oppressive heat (the temperature was touching 45 degrees!) quickly took the sap out of the participants.

BTirthankar suggested we line up the cars diagonally along NH6, so he could have a photo session. The plan was soon abandoned as huge trucks were hurtling towards us. We did the same exercise subsequently at the Kona Truck Stop (refer his pic of the cars above).

From Kona, everyone waved goodbye and rushed off towards their homes. I remember crossing NOS and Toiing several times on Kona Expressway before hitting Vidyasagar Setu.

There were 2 beautiful sights I will carry from the return journey. First was the sight of 1100D parked at the point where Kona Expressway takes a diversion towards Howrah. He stood there with a camera, waving to us as we roared past!

The second was the sight of driving along Vidyasagar Setu, as the fierce sun glistened over the steel railings and the Ganges below.

My personal thanks: I had gone to the meet expecting petrolheads anyway. What surprised me was, these were people who were a great bunch to generally hang out with, cars or no cars. The camraderie and fun element in the group is so good, its infectious. Even my wife (despite being the only female in the group), enjoyed to the hilt! Thank you guys, and here's hoping we have many more such meets in the future.

Indeed it was a great meet. thanks to all the members.. we missed Razor, shuvC & D and vroooooom for specific reasons..

The most memorable ( to me) was the screeching sound from the tires of daktarbabu's Zen and the superfast mode in which he was driving his car.

Evo' car was great, very tastefully done. I was almost taken to the dreamland with stories from ADC and Captain. 1100D is an encyclopedia on FIAT( atleast) and it feels great to hear from him.

A special thanks to Tirthankar for his wonderful low angle shots of our babies.

I missed out the last bit of photosession, since I had to run for some work but afterwards I did till Panagarh ( which is beyond Shaktigarh) after finishing it .
Lets plan out the Night out plan as soon as possible.
