Hyderabad : March'09 Drive Meet

One of our senior leaders has expressed his interest to come on this drive. He drives a blue color Honda Civic and is originally from Mumbai but keeps driving down back to his home-town over weekends whenever he can and is an auto afficiondo like the most of us.

It would be my pleasure to have him with us on this drive.

oh my goodness! i have missed so much in my absence!!!!

it has become very hectic since last one month both at home and at work!

an important deadline is looming a few weeks ahead and since last one month there has been absolutely no time to browse and post in this site from work. bulk of my work is now done and I might have a wee bit more time in the coming days.

evenings and weekends at home, my computer has been monopolized by my dad who is preparing the accounts of our building association (he is the treasurer and stepping down in March).

dunno about the meet tho...will try my best to make it. can anyone tell me what is the planned destination. I have no patience to go thru all the pages!

As you can see, the meet date is tilting towards March 15th and the destination is Nagarjunsagar Dam. Hope you can make it

Vikarabad / Anantagiri

Drive out by 8.00 a.m. (before it gets too hot), have lunch in a dhabha, relax under the trees at Anantagiri, leave by around 3.00 p.m.
retire to a nice place in Hyd/outskirts for dinner.

+ 1 to that. history shows we guys dont indulge into any sight seeing(bidar being an exception courtesy the weather) ,so relaxing under the trees sounds fun.

Hi guys,

I just checked some old threads and saw that Watashi had suggested Vikarabad -> Ananthagiri Hills -> Dharur -> Kotepalli and had also posted some pics.

Any suggestions about eating places in the area? @ watashi75

PVS too seems to have been to the place. Can you throw some light on good place(s) to eat? @ PVS

Avi & Raj might remember where the TBHPians ate on the last visit. (The owner of that particular place might not want us back though!)
Ravi @ 64bhp too might have some ideas.

The main hassle with Anantagiri / Darur / Kotepalle seems to be the grub joints. So let the suggestions come in folks, else we will have to add a tempo with cook(s), supplies and equipment to set up a kitchen there. That would be the first branch of Pandey ki Rasoi!

If you have the patience to drive back about 40 kms, there is a good dhaba between Chevella and Chilkur---I think it is 'All Seasons' or something like that. It comes on the left side on the return journey--it is a good joint with a pool nearby. It is covered and has good seating arrangements. But I dont think you get the soft drinks that we like.

We have been to AH couple of times and once we had only breakfast in an irani cafe and next time had it in a dhaba on the way back in between which is about 30 odd kms but, falls on right side while going back to Hyd.

As mentioned, the dhaba came on the right side while going back to hyderabad and i am sure a simple search would pull out that thread and it has lots of pictures of that meet.

I remember the bill too, about 1800 bucks for 18 people, essentially 100 bucks per head. I'd say that was the cheapest lunch ever had in TBHP meets

But, the spoilsport is we go to AH, do nothing and then drive back to this dhaba. It would be nice to find one in AH itself.

@Devnull, pleased that line did you in. Now, change the status to confirm from tentative or less will unleash another harsher line :-)

pardon my ignorance ,which route leads to vikarabad? do we cross gandipet ? if yes ,then instead of masab tank venue i will come via ORR from hi tech and wait on the turn which leads to gandipet(have a feeling i have seen a board mentioning vikarabad there)

also will give me additional half hour of sleep as well

OT: Chikoo beta can also be called 'baby' now courtesy sai thakur.lol

so now chikoo you have a new dostana in the making.
