Regarding cuddalore and beyond feeling like a bit of a stretch, my friends and myself started from chennai at 9 am and went to chidambaram for lunch , enjoyed the lake in pichavaram took lotsa photos and we were back in adyar by 7pm.

True, 100 kms does feel (and sound) too small. So probably we should combine Alamparai with lunch and sight seeing with photos at Pondy and round the trip off. As returning too late would make Monday morning office a nightmare! And like I have already mentioned, I have constraints on Saturday too :(

True. Ecr is not as safe as other highways. But otherhighways dont offer the pleasure ecr offers. Plus we are teamBHPians. We DRIVE SAFE.

Monday morning office is always a nightmare sir! ( using sir is kinda a habit for me )
And any plan is ok from my side.

That according to me is a perfect plan. It won't be too rushed. It would mean a total distance of around 300 kms which sounds okay to me. Going to Chidambaram might be a bit of a stretch.

Most importantly the date has to be decided.

I am going to propose something different and unheard of.

We can have 2 drive meets.

1st September: Trip to Yelagiri and back.
2nd September: Trip to Alamparai -> Pichavaram -> And back. (to Pondi and back is as mundane as going to Sundaram Motors and back for me)

People choose the trip based on their availability and convenience. I don't want anyone to feel left out. We shall nominate 2 people to lead the 2 trips. I suppose Anand can organize and lead the Sunday trip to Alamparai/Pichavaram. Saadat could you handle Saturday trip to Yelagiri?

What do you all think? I am pretty sure some of us can go to both the trips.

count me in for the september 2nd drive. Sunday suits me well. What we can do is get to alamparai and then depending on the time and how everyone feels we can always extend the drive. I know its not the correct way to plan, but atleast we might have our options open.

Umm...I have a change of itinerary too.

I have a business lunch on 1st Saturday.

So I am gonna go with the 2nd Saturday trip to Alamparai. (if it is alamparai we are heading to). Btw, I have never been to both the places. So anyplace is fine by me.

I think the majority is clearly for Sunday and Alamparai. I suggest we hit Pichavaram some other time. I also call the others to join the gang on Sunday. If this is ok, then lets decide the itinerary. If I remember correctly, Anand started of with a good drive route. Shall we agree on that or shall we improvise?

Btw, I hope we will go by the spirit of fine driving and not test our engines, tyres and driving skills.
