You also have the Fast Track Call Taxi at the international airport these days. Check the fares, it could be cheaper than the 'avaiation express'. I guess you get only indica/amby/omni, not sure about the a/c cars availability.

I chatted up a Fast Track call taxi guy, the other day.
He said the airport 'Fast track' cabs charge 50% more than the regular 'fast track' cabs.

Continuing the OT discussion,

Aviation Express is a rip off. Very Expensive ! I had a nightmarish early morning experience. The guy was half asleep driving his innova and on the Kathipara he lost control. I shook him up and drove myself to Velachery. Called his firm and complained. The guy came to apologise next day.

Fast Track is cost effective . If its in late evenings, I dont mind an auto from outside honestly. With the new subway, to the Trisulam station, train is an option too..

Nitrous..you were actually chatting up a fast track GUY ? lol What was your chat up line ? Just joking dude. True, fast track meter has an option to increase the Rs/km rate. This is useful when they drive late nights, early mornings etc. They use the same for airport drops. Just call fasttrack and confirm why its extra during day from airport...and you will pay normal rate ! works for me every time !

@ikoneer, you have Renault Logan and Tata Indigo and Toyota Innova FAST TRACK taxis as well these days !

Aviation Express seemed expensive when I was by myself, but reasonable when my wife was with me.

Just cannot tell whether it was the daylight hour that made it cheaper ...or the Tamil-speaking wife!

Anything is better than those fossilised black and yellow Ambassadors!

Good Morning,

About the fossilised B/Y Ambys , Most of the drivers dont even have a license, or the cars an insurance. This I learnt from a Police Team conducting a mid night halt/search of all cars at Madhya Kailash ( past mid night ) . Its like, the guy who owns the taxi, buys the slot to be used in airport. Then on a premium , he inducts 'drivers' without or without license. My particular driver , did not even have a license. They warned me that, if something had to go worng whilst I was in car that was driven by someone without a license or insurance, then my own insurance firm may not honour my claim !

27 Nov 2009 - I now know what WTPT stands for !!!

I finally made it to a Friday meet (27 Nov 2009), and this happened about 2 years after headers told me about these regular friday meets, and invited me to one. The irony was that headers was not present this friday !!! I had hoped to meet you too, Vikram.

It was just the 4 of us (esteem_lover, petrol_head, ex670c and myself), and i enjoyed it thoroughly. Hope to meet more often on fridays. Sorry John, Vijay if the discussions had been too much on off-roading !

The chicken biriyani at the dinner place (Sterling Crescent?) was awesome...one of the few places where Malabar chicken biriyani actually had well-cooked chicken, that had been cooked as part of the biriyani itself.

Vaadi-atech, nee azhinja!

Guys, the yelagiri meet ain't happening since Bangalore members have changed plans.
We could do something else, this weekend. Like a photo meet, or karting.
Photo meet will need a good location. So, please suggest good photo-op spots.

Imagine the number of clutch replacement jobs they would have everyday if there were 'call taxi girls'.
'Fast track' would go belly up within weeks!

I tried hard to find some double/hidden meaning in these lines, but I suppose there was none?

I am game for a photo shoot. Date and time please.
