re: The MH Mega Meet 2015 - Date finalised, 18th January 2015

Hi All,

I am open for all the above dates, even Ganpati Pule sounds tempting, but that will entail a night halt. Not sure how many members will agree to it.

We can also look at other beaches which are closer to Mumbai-Pune:
Nagaon, Kashid, Murud, Karde or Ladghar?

Also, a drive on NH-17 with the T-BHP entourage would be a sight to behold!

My suggestion, let's stick to one dayer. Night halt involves too much of logistics to handle.

Alibaug to Murud belt seems to be good option since it will be closer to both Mumbai and Pune folks.

NH17 is what we always talk about but haven't done as such.
Can you please gather the Pune guys and check if a NH17 Drive would be OK with them, so that we can come up with some place.

As of now, after speaking to a few members, most suggesting Wai/Mahabaleshwar.

Is the road widening work over?

NH17 has only the stretch between Alibag and Kashid, give or take a few kms, which is within the acceptable time and distance to drive for both Mumbai and Pune folks.

Alibag and Kashid sounds little Mundane, so as Wai and Mahabaleswar. Can someone think out of the box and suggest a place less traveled? I am sure there are other places along NH-17 than just Alibag and Kashid.

There's Murud Zanjira, and food at Patil Khanawal. Heard it's good.
Please do come up with some more options for places.

re: The MH Mega Meet 2015 - Date finalised, 18th January 2015

I have another suggestion...

Lets drop the routine plan of visiting a sea beach and eating at a known Dhaba. Lets plan to change it a bit from the routine.

How about a get-together near a water body like a dam, then some group fishing by Team-BHP members followed by a barbecue of our fresh catch?

Sounds like a plot directly lifted from a Hollywood movie but then, we are no less stars in many ways than one.

P.S - These are just my fancy ideas. If sounds encouraging then please consider or else just ignore it as the blabber of an insane mind

re: The MH Mega Meet 2015 - Date finalised, 18th January 2015

Keeping in mind the travel convenience for Mumbai and Pune BHPIANS, I suggest we look at Nashik as an option.
Alibaug & Murud Janjira don't appeal as good destination (to me) as they're way too crowded with Mumbaites during weekends.

I did a little research and found several nice dams & lakes around Nashik - which would be perfect from a meet perspective + the climate there in January would be nice and cool! Nashik has plenty of food options available as well so even that would be taken care of!
Let's see what other BHPIANS have to say about this!

I am not sure Pune guys will find it close by. Most Mumbai folks should reach Nashik in 3 hrs, Puneites will probably take around 5.

I agree, Nashik from Pune looks farthest by a decade at least and to top it the roads leading to it are horrendous to say in milder terms. Even if we manage to reach Nashik from Pune in 4 hours time, nothing will be left with us to enjoy the meet.

In that sense, Bhandardara lake seems to be a good option to consider. Easily reachable by Mumbai, Pune and Nashik folks (BTW I know only one Nashik person who will come, where are the others, please pour in suggestions )

Bhandardara is a good and scenic option. But the roads that lead to the place are not so good. Plus for lunch we will have limited options. Unless we want to come back out and have lunch at Igatpuri.

Please suggest.
