If you are considering a Scorpio....... i would suggest you to wait till the revamped one is out. The present Scorpio is a scary handler... the 3.0l CRDe engine is good and when the Scorpio's handling is sorted(hopefully) in the newer version... it'll be worth considering. But still, i suggest wait and watch.

After a recent highway drive, I realised that the Scorpios bad handling is much exaggerated. Its got a loose rear - Yes. But its not as bad as people make it out to be. Remember that it is an SUV. And SUVs are meant to be driven in a much different style than regular sedans. This applies to ANY SUV.

No doubt, the suspension of the Scorpio is tuned toward ride comfort. And this is something that it does exceedingly well. Ever been in a Scorpio over bad roads?

rage, petrol or diesel, this depends on your daily drive and amount of highway driving.
if maintainence is the criteria, petrol generally is maintainence free, but i am not sure about common rail diesel maintainence... maybe someone can fill in on this one??

The Ikon would definitely be a more cost effective option than the Scorpio. But the choice mainly depends on what you are going to use the car for.

Ikon 1.6 more cost effective than Scorpio Diesel? I doubt that. I remember seeing Scorpio advt in India Today, which boasted of lower running cost than even NHC.

Absolutely GTO! Handling is not at all bad considering the Center of Gravity of the vehicle. In my personal opinion, the Scorpio absolutely rocks!! The CRDe is very well powered with 116ps and excellent torque. There is no vehicle which can even touch the Scorpio as its price bracket is really unique!!!

Hey there,

it was said in an earlier post that you are gonna be driving just about 8000-10000 kms a year....so you really dont need a diesel...

in order to get benefit of the petrol/diesel price difference...your monthly mileage should be atleast 2500kms. My crdi has completed more than 30000kms in about 11 months. On the maintainence front...i havent faced any issue with the car, just being carrying out routine services and the car still runs like new. Scorpio should be no different...and being a mahindra spares are going to be relatively cheap.

But according to your yearly mileage, i would suggest you take a look at petrol cars. and with ur budget of 6-7 lakhs? there are plenty of good choices...example the baleno lxi - fits well within your budget and still leaves you with enough cash for better rubber+alloys and other accessories.
For more information check out the review of the baleno.

Also take a look at the ford ikon 1.6, its got a sweet engine, and the handling to go...but brakes are dissappointing.
Check out the review on the 1.6.

Hope this helps.
