Conclusion

Consider the Urban Cruiser Taisor, if you are looking for a premium hatchback as it offers a bit more practicality. The S variant comes with all the necessary equipment and a few creature comforts such as wireless connectivity and steering-mounted control making life behind the wheel stress-free. But, if you are an enthusiast and would like to jump on the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol bandwagon for a bit more oomph, then the G variant of the Taisor offers a lot of value.

On first look, the G variant looks promising, with most of the must have and good to have features like 6 airbags, tilt and telescopic steering, height adjustable driver's seat and so on.

But when I see that its missing Cruise control, Auto IRVM and UV cut glass, it pulls me towards the V variant.

On a side note, I am wondering why would anyone (and I know a lot of them do), not prefer the Maruti version of the car (FronX) instead of the Toyota badged Taisor? Is it just because of the badge value or am I missing something here ?

With Maruti you get much wider availability of service network and lesser upfront cost (in the form of upfront discounts and lesser sticker price) compared to Toyota. If everything is identical, why go towards Toyota instead of Maruti. Just wondering.

The V variant, just for the auto-dimming IRVM and UV cut glasses. The bigger infotainment display isn't a necessity, but it's nice to have.

If not for the first 2 features alone, I would have been more than happy with the G variant.

Would not go below G no matter what because I consider the following to be essentials
- telescopic steering
- height adjustable drivers seat
- front centre armrest
- rear wash and wipe
- 6 airbags is also nice

Yes, I agree that the S and G appear to be value for money variants for the Toyota Taisor. I would recommend the G variant, though. In the case of the top end V variant, you have to spend around 2 lakhs more and get features like Auto IRVM, Cruise Control, or a 360 degree camera. It doesn't seem like a value for money proposition.

However, I have a few questions here -
1. Auto IRVM and Leather wrapped Steering Wheel - Are these features really so expensive that they are reserved for the top-end variant?

2. Rear Wiper and Washer - This is not a costly feature, but you only get it in the G variant. Why? It's an important feature for safety.

3. Rearview Camera - You get this in the G variant. Does that mean the S and S+ variants come with a 7 inch infotainment system but without a rear camera? That's surprising!

I would go for the Turbo Petrol AT V variant owing to it being the most feature-loaded and priced at par with the Fronx with a better warranty too.
