Voted No.

The 1-star safety rating is a major deal breaker for me.

Plus, at that price point, I might as well as stretch a little more and go for the much Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Land Rover Defender is another compelling buy. Both offer much more in terms of practicality and comfort.

I would rather have the Hilux +Innova Hycross + Verna combo so as to have a car for each occasion. Had this poll been for a Defender the reply would have been different .

Of course yes with my eyes closed.
Only if I had the money. Wrangler and Mustang are two Jeep and Car respectively that I will buy with my eyes closed (if only I were that rich).
Till then I will make do with a Polo GT and upcoming Thar

Re: Would you buy the Jeep Wrangler for 68-72 lakhs in India?

Voted Yes.

- Sway bar disconnect on the fly which is help in offroad/onroad conditions.
- Adas - very much needed after a hardcore offroading.
- Front/Rear differentials which helps immensely in off-roading conditions.
- The amount of reliable bolt on mods that can be done to it is infinite. If we want to upgrade 4pot brakes for thar we have to do lot of R&D.
I love the 3 door rubicon, is it available in newer version ?

I would have seriously considered buying this if Jeep India had offered their Diesel V6 Engine;

Re: Would you buy the Jeep Wrangler for 68-72 lakhs in India?

In most other big markets this Jeep would be 'The One and Only' - according to Jeep`s marketing campaign.

I like my vehicles to be fast and agile even if they have a 4x4 hardware, as a purpose built off-road vehicle I do not have a need for this, an old Major would do. But I do need a 4x4 vehicle that can also sail through the worst of traffic with ease, blitz through the expressway just as well - diesel AT would be a great asset.

See I finished my post without mentioning Thar

Voted No.

I recently met someone who owns one and also got to know about his financial status. This is for you only if a full payment doesn't register as a big deal in your personal finances. I don't get the appeal of a 4 cylinder petrol powered full size SUV, Jeep or not.

Re: Would you buy the Jeep Wrangler for 68-72 lakhs in India?

Voted No. Atleast not in India at current prices. Might have been a yes before Thar/Jimny days, we now have plenty of options at much lower price point with much better after sales. Thar/Jimny/Gurkha/Hilux/DMAX/Fortuner are quite capable and have good mod potential if one is looking for extreme off roading.

And at last I don't want to spend 75L and someone come and say " Hey you already got a 5 door Thar before launch or say congratulations, nice looking Thar" .

Absolutely, yes. No matter how many look alikes may be, but there's only one original. Keep spotting this red beauty in my locality now and then.

Re: Would you buy the Jeep Wrangler for 68-72 lakhs in India?

The law of diminishing marginal utilities seems to be working against Wrangler - credit to Mahindra for offering 80% of the product at 30% of the price.

The kind of impact the Thar has had on Wrangler can easily be understood by the options everyone is quoting - one can have a Thar + 50 big ones to spare on another car.

Wrangler can thank good planning for Mahindra & not so good planning from Jeep for the results of this thread

I'm a big Jeep fan and love the Wrangler looks and its go pretty much anywhere capability. The price though is a big turn off for me. Fortuner is priced cheaper and makes for a interesting case against the Wrangler.

Re: Would you buy the Jeep Wrangler for 68-72 lakhs in India?

No, because I'd buy a fast sedan (BYD Seal) along with a less capable but much cheaper Thar/Gurkha/Jimny/DMax/HiLux.

Would've loved Jeep with a big diesel heart.

But love the Jeep brand and the higher end offerings in India.

Re: Would you buy the Jeep Wrangler for 68-72 lakhs in India?

I voted no.
When switching from Ford Endeavor, I considered the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. Still, I didn't want to seriously consider them since the future of Jeep in India is questionable and the low sales numbers don't give any confidence.

After looking at all available options, I bought a new gen GLC, happy with the decision ( I am not into offroading, so something that can take me to most places comfortably without struggle is what I was looking for).
