It'd be very beneficial to hear from you about the differences, in your experience with each.

My Fortuner is 12+ years now, and I'm mulling between these two. Both for long distance touring and daily city commutes.

Re: Dilemma - Wait for Electric 4x4 SUVs or go for the Hilux?

The problem with electric 4X4 would be the obvious issue - charging. The main motive (at least for me) for owning a Thar 4X4 is to escape the city hustle bustle and enjoy a quiet weekend preferably at a location where there is no body else other than me. Now to access such locations I need to travel a lot say at time 300 - 400 kms without a gas station. Hence, an electric 4X4 would need charging to do these type of excursions and charging station would be very hard to find once you leave the urban areas. Hence, 4X4 on electric engine would not serve my purpose. For me it’s best to get a full tank of diesels and fuel up two of my 20 litres each jerry can with this I can easily travel to any remote location in India. Now the decision is yours whether to wait for electric 4X4 or go with ICE.
