| re: Midsize SUV Comparison | A closer look at today's top contenders The Honda Elevate boasts a clean and straightforward design that leans towards a stretched-out hatchback appearance rather than a typical SUV. Its design is understated and is expected to maintain its appeal over time. The Kia Seltos presents a modern and sporty design, combining bold elements with sleek lines. It's a design that can please those seeking a stylish urban SUV. The design of the Hyundai Creta can be polarizing, often described as "love it or hate it," despite its contemporary appearance. The Škoda Kushaq embraces Škoda's signature style with a familiar face. It stands out with clean and sharp lines, creating an elegant look. Like its sibling, the Kushaq, the VW Taigun carries the unmistakable Volkswagen style, featuring a familiar family face. It incorporates chrome elements tastefully, resulting in a strong and classy appearance. The MG Astor boasts the looks of an urban SUV with its curvy and distinctive silhouette. Its design is executed subtly, giving it a sophisticated appearance. The Toyota Hyryder impresses with clean lines and an elongated shape, offering an upmarket and unique design that sets it apart. The Grand Vitara exhibits some noticeable alterations in both its front and rear sections compared to the Hyryder. It showcases clean lines and a curvy shape, contributing to a distinctive design that commands attention on the road. Each SUV has its distinct design, appealing to various preferences. What's attractive depends on personal taste, so go for the one that matches your style. Index Last edited by MotorDev : 19th September 2023 at 23:52. |

| re: Midsize SUV Comparison | A closer look at today's top contenders Interior ImpressionsInside the Honda Elevate, you'll find a simple design with straight lines, just like its outside look. If you've been in a Honda before, you'll know how things work. The interior has a black and tan theme, which looks good. Some things inside are similar to other Honda cars. The seats are comfortable but lack ventilation. They're soft enough for long drives. Rear visibility isn't great, though. The Elevate has beige and black seats for other trims. In the back, two adults with a child can sit comfortably, making it a proper 4-seater. However, the middle seat lacks both a 3-point seatbelt and a headrest. Overall, the dashboard is straightforward, and the cabin is comfy. When you step into the Seltos, you'll find a modern dashboard. The front seats are ventilated and offer good support. However, if you're larger in size, you might find them a bit small. Rear visibility is limited because of the large C-pillars and headrests. The Seltos features grey seats for the X-line, brownish-beige seats for the HTX variant, and black and white seats for the GT trim. In the rear, all three passengers have adjustable headrests and 3-point seatbelts. The rear seats are supportive, but if you're tall, you might feel like you're sitting low. Overall, the Seltos's interior feels fancy. Inside the Creta, you'll find a clean and modern dashboard. It doesn't use soft-touch plastics, but the parts you touch are good quality. The rear windshield is decent in size, but the C-pillars are thick. The front seats are very comfortable, even for larger-sized passengers. The Creta gets black seats with red stitching for turbo variants and black and white seats for other variants. In the back, the seats are supportive but better for 2 adults and a kid instead of 3 adults. Only the side passengers get headrests. All three passengers get three-point seatbelts. The rear seat is comfortable, and in general, the Creta's cabin provides a pleasant environment. The Kushaq has an attractive dashboard with black inserts and artificial carbon fibre details. While there are no soft-touch plastics, it has a clean finish, though some panels may seem a bit lower in quality. The leather upholstered, ventilated seats offer good support. Again, the rear view is just okay because of the thick C-pillars and headrests. The Kushaq gets grey fabric seats in lower trims and black and grey seats with orange stitching in the top variant. In the rear, the seats have nice contours for support. All three passengers have three-point seatbelts and adjustable headrests. However, it's better for 2 adults and a kid than 3 adults. Overall, the interior is good but some other SUVs, like the Korean twins, offer a more enjoyable cabin experience. The Taigun has a good-looking dashboard, but there are no soft-touch plastics. The cabin feels sturdy and well-finished. The front seats have ventilation and offer good support. Like other crossovers, the rear view is just okay because of thick C-pillars and headrests. The Taigun gets grey fabric seats in lower trims and white and black leather seats in top trims. In the rear, all three passengers have three-point seatbelts and adjustable headrests. The rear seat is better for 2 adults and a kid than 3 adults. It's similar to the Kushaq. Overall, the interior is good but some other SUVs, like the Korean twins, offer a more enjoyable cabin experience. The Astor has a sporty dashboard and a unique look. It uses soft-touch materials on the dashboard. The cabin feels well-built and finished. The seats are upholstered in perforated faux leather and have soft headrests. They're wide and supportive. The material quality is good, but it doesn't have seat ventilation. Rear visibility is just okay due to thick C-pillars and headrests. In the rear, the seats have contours for support. All three passengers have three-point seatbelts and adjustable headrests. However, it's better for 2 adults and a child than 3 adults due to the limited cabin width. The middle area of the backrest protrudes because of the armrest, and the seatbase is raised in the centre. Overall, a premium cabin with quality materials. Stepping inside the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, it feels more like a Maruti than a Toyota. Many parts are shared with Maruti cars, especially the Brezza. The steering wheel, switchgear, and infotainment head-unit are similar to Maruti cars. The interior has hard plastics, but there's some soft-touch faux leather on the dash and door pads, making it feel less cheap. The front seats are well-contoured with good bolstering and have ventilation. Rear visibility is just okay due to the C-pillars. In the rear, all rear seat passengers have adjustable headrests and three-point seatbelts. However, the interior width is not enough for three adults in the rear. Overall, the interior is decent, offering a satisfactory experience for passengers. Inside, the cabin has a typical Maruti vibe. If you've been inside a Brezza or XL6, you'll notice familiar elements right away. It is similar to the Hyryder. Maruti offers an all-black interior with champagne gold accents for the Hybrid variant and a dual-tone Black + Bordeaux combination for other variants. It uses hard plastics, with some soft-touch faux leather inserts on the dash and door pads. The front seats are decent-sized and well-bolstered but may feel narrow for larger individuals. They are also ventilated. In the rear, all rear seat passengers have adjustable headrests and three-point seatbelts. However, the interior width isn't enough for three adults in the rear. Overall, the interior is decent, offering a satisfactory experience for passengers. In summary, the Korean SUVs stand out as all-rounders in terms of interiors, providing ample space and a rich set of features. The Honda Elevate offers commendable space, while the MG Astor impresses with its quality materials. On the other hand, the VAG twins and the Maruti-Toyota twins offer a satisfactory cabin experience. Index Last edited by MotorDev : 19th September 2023 at 23:52. |

| re: Midsize SUV Comparison | A closer look at today's top contenders FeaturesThe table below shows essential features that midsize SUV buyers usually want: In summary, the Korean twins stand out by offering the most comprehensive set of features in the midsize SUV segment. The MG Astor also provides a host of features. While other SUVs also offer a range of features, they don't match the extensive list provided by the Koreans. On the other hand, the VAG twins, miss out on certain advanced connected car functionalities such as remote start. Nevertheless, their respective apps do offer features like tracking the car's location and monitoring its speed, which contribute to an improved overall ownership experience. | re: Midsize SUV Comparison | A closer look at today's top contenders Performance
Honda Elevate Powertrain Options: Offers a 1.5L I-Vtec engine with a 6-speed manual transmission (MT) or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Powertrain Options: Offers a powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) or a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (IMT). Also provides a 1.5L 4-cylinder CRDi diesel engine with an automatic transmission (AT) or a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (IMT). Additionally, a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine is available with a manual transmission (MT) or an intelligent variable transmission (IVT).
Powertrain Options: Similar to the Kia Seltos, the Creta offers a 1.5L 4-cylinder CRDi diesel engine with a manual transmission (MT) or an automatic transmission (AT). It also provides a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine with a manual transmission (MT) or an intelligent variable transmission (IVT).
Powertrain Options: Offers a 1.5L 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine with a 6-speed manual transmission (MT) or a 7-speed DSG and a 1.0L 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed Torque Converter transmission (AT).
Powertrain Options: Similar to the Skoda Kushaq, it offers a 1.5L 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine with a 6-speed manual transmission (MT) or a 7-speed DSG and a 1.0L 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed Torque Converter transmission (AT).
Powertrain Options: Offers a 1349cc, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a 6-speed torque converter automatic (AT). It also provides a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine with a manual transmission (MT) or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Powertrain Options: Equipped with a hybrid powertrain that combines a 3-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, paired with an E-CVT gearbox. Also offers an AllGrip variant with AWD and a 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine with manual and automatic transmission options. The Vitara also includes a CNG option.

If you prioritize diesel engines, the Korean twins are your only choice. However, the Korean and European twin's turbo petrol engines offer an excellent driving experience, outperforming the Astor's turbo petrol engine. When it comes to driving dynamics, European counterparts shine. Honda Elevate's I-Vtec engine is both reliable and rev-happy, with a smooth CVT. It outperforms the Astor's engine and even the Maruti-Toyota twins. The VAG twins' 1.0L turbo petrol engines, especially the AT version, are also impressive, potentially surpassing Elevate's 1.5 I-Vtec CVT. For fuel efficiency, consider the Maruti-Toyota twins' hybrid powertrain, and if AWD is a must, they remain the top choice. Index Last edited by MotorDev : 19th September 2023 at 23:54. |

| re: Midsize SUV Comparison | A closer look at today's top contenders Final ImpressionsThe midsize SUV market offers a diverse range of choices tailored to your specific needs. Whether you prioritize performance, space, luxury, safety, features, or efficiency, there's an SUV for you. The MG Astor stands out as a straightforward SUV designed for customers making the leap from a small hatchback. It prioritizes features over performance, making it an excellent choice for those who value a tech-rich driving experience without the need for high-speed thrills. The Kia Seltos, on the other hand, impresses with its spirited turbocharged engine and feature-rich interior, offering both practicality and excitement in a single package. The Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun, strike a good balance between performance and practicality while boasting a robust build quality. If you require a premium experience, the Hyundai Creta caters to your desires with its refined powertrain and awesome features. For those placing a premium on safety and sturdiness, the VAG twins may be a more attractive option compared to the Korean twins, known for their less impressive safety track record. Meanwhile, the Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara prioritize fuel efficiency and cabin space, offering practicality and features along with reliability. Honda Elevate also deserves mention as a striking SUV with good looks, decent features, and notable reliability. Its 1.5 i-VTEC engine, especially when paired with a manual transmission, outshines competitors in the naturally aspirated engine category, catering to those who seek raw engine power. In the end, pick the SUV that suits your preferences the best, be it driving experience, space, features, safety, or efficiency. Thank you for reading this SUV comparison. I hope this comprehensive overview of the midsize SUVs in the market helped you understand the key differences between them. Cheers. Disclaimer: Please note that all views presented in this comparison have been collectively compiled from Team-BHP reviews. I haven't personally experienced all the SUVs, except for the Kushaq and Taigun. Index Last edited by MotorDev : 19th September 2023 at 23:55. |
