My choice has been D AT HT 4x4 in red colour and that is what I bought 14 months back. My boy toy has a primary purpose of taking me out of my mundane corporate life. And I find my mental peace at offbeat places in Himalayas, desert & jungle (some of the perks, manageable while living in NCR).

My Thar isn't my primary vehicle. I chose this model for its practicality on my purposes. I drive for long hours & distances, sometimes 1000km plus and 18-20 hrs in a single day. An Autobox with large fuel range engine option, comparatively silent cabin with safe luggage - helps my use case.

I've been happy with my choice - 14 months and 24k Kms down the line. My Thar has taken me to the places which I couldn't dare venture in my previous precious 4x4s.

Voted for the convertible, as I think the Thar loses its appeal if it's a hard top.

My choice would be Petrol AT/HT sans the low transfer case -- in red of course. (I so wish they made a blue)

It's a no brainer for me, the 4x4 Diesel Hardtop AT LX.

4*4 - Of course, 4*4 s, Off Roading and Exploration - all that's my new found love. Something that opened up a new world of motoring and new friends for me since my chance encounter with a friend's Gypsy in 2017. Since then I bought two Gypsies(both remain) and now the Thar.

Diesel - I want the torque benefit and the smoothness when all hell break loose in an off roading session. Also this would be my tourer and what better engine than the m Hawk to cruise at a steady 90-100 whole day and at 1600-1700 rpm. DPF be damned. I've almost cracked the code on how to keep the DPF tantrums at bay after having owned the first BS6 Diesel(Seltos) for 3 years. Yes, driving it to the Himalayas for a multi week exploration would be having it's own challenges. I'll cross that bridge when I approach it.

Hardtop - While the CT is fun with open top jeeping, wind in the hair etc, practicality has to be a priority especially when I intend to tour the length and breadth of the country.

AT - It's a must these days, even the highways and toll booths are choc-a-bloc. The torque converter and m Hawk is a match made in heaven. It's all butter smooth.

LX - I always go for the top variant than regretting later.

My choice (and likely my next ride lol)
Petrol (NCR)
4×4 (For me Thar without 4x4 is just showoff)
Convertible top (Why wouldn't I get a Scorpio N 4x4 if all I need is a capable 4x4 SUV with a closed roof. I'm not a hardcore offroader anyways)
