My advice given for free right here would be especially with a Pajero, don’t buy it unless you personally know the car and it’s history.

Other than that please DM if you like.

Re: Buying a used Mitsubishi Pajero SFX

I bought a used Pajero SFX 2011 model last year August just because the kid in me wanted it for the last 20 years or so. Before buying I'd never even been inside any of the Pajeros', call it a one-sided love story! Since the purchase I've a smile every time I get into the car however the car is really old school and if one doesn't enjoy simple things in life this car is not for them. Another thing to note is, one should be in a reasonably fit to regularly use this car. I still dread the day I end up with a puncture and I need to change the tyre on the Pajero on my own

Re: Buying a used Mitsubishi Pajero SFX

Hello

I understand it's a 5 year old thread. But just wanted to ask if it makes sense buying a Pajero in 2024.

I TD drove one n got it checked with mech
It's a clean 2012 car with 100k on the odo and the seller is asking about 8L. But just does it make sense?

For my use case I am just looking for a 4x4 with a flat loading bay. And the only thing that comes close to the PAJERO is an innova but it's not got 4x4 plus decently good Innovas are still expensive.

I travel with my dogs everyday to a lake bed. And was using an Innova (parking far) with only 2 front seats so far but now it's run out of registration and needs to be scraped. The pajero seems it can take alot of abuse.

If it's not a Pajero then I will have to sacrifice the 4x4. I looked at old gypsy but rather buy a new Bolero than go back to gypsy days.

You may end up being stranded in that lake bed with a Pajero in this day and age. Get a hilux if you want? Has 4wd and a pickup body so there is a flat load bed for your doggos.

A 2012 vehicle is still road legal since FC is valid but at 100K kms in the odo some major service will be required (Tightening of timing chain) ask the owner if the 100K service has been done (I doubt so).

Sourcing OEM spares & parts is tricky but still possible, issue is finding a reliable and capable mechanic since all Mitsubishi ASC have shut shop.

Having owned a Pajero GLX in the past and driven both models a SFX is more sluggish as they had to de-tune the engine for compliance with BS4 emission norms be aware of that. 8L is too high for it 5-6L (Max, depending on condition) should be ideal.

A Pajero is a classic old school SUV (rugged & reliable) with minimum electronics and hassles if maintained well.

Re: Buying a used Mitsubishi Pajero SFX

Thanks for the reply.

Well there is a new Hybrid Clutch, New Maxxis 980 31x10.5 tires.

I got it checked from a Mech who used to work on my cousins Pajero SFX (Raid-De-Himalyan Official) when they had it. And he did a through inspection and told me the Timming Chain is fine too for now.
There was just some "play" in the steering a dead spot in the center, which he told me can be fixed.

There is a Mitsubishi Parts only reseller here in Bhopal, so after checking with them the spares seem to available though might be a little expensive.

Its about 92K on the Odo to be exact.

31x10.5x15 is a good size for the pajero, does it have a suspension lift?
the additional diameter is going to affect your turning radius & touch the insides while turning the front wheels, what off set are your rims?

OEM parts on re-sale is a good source of spares/parts...especially body parts for other consumables (fan belt, air, fuel, oil filters..etc) & OEM parts you can contact Mr. Rajdutt @ 9810536687, he is based out of New Delhi.
I used to buy all my spares from him, if something OEM not available he will source an aftermarket equivalent. However, for major parts you will have to quote the exact Mitsubishi part number from the manual & takes time to source them.

If you can please share the details of the Mitsubishi parts re-seller in Bhopal.

Though a GLX would have been my choice for reasons explained earlier but yes the Mitsubishi pajero is/was a handsome looking rugged & extremely reliable old school SUV.
With good maintenance & regular service it will last you a lifetime. The vehicle is very capable off road too.

City driving is a headache though especially due to the 2nd & 3rd gear ratios, so constant shifting is required.
Driver seating comfort & all round visibility for a vehicle its size is unmatched.

Congratulations on your purchase, enjoy the ownership.

Re: Buying a used Mitsubishi Pajero SFX

Today I found another with only 80K on the Odo and single owner 2012.
I will test drive this one too and figure out which one.

I have already test drove 2 others but they both had higher Odo readings and were older.

Do you check the 4WD system also when you take test drives?

I have checked the 4H modes only; but I will check all modes before I finalize.

The other two non-whites which I TD earlier I rejected because of the condition and they were like both about 2009 and 2010. I only TD one of the two which seemed better of the two.

Glad atleast I have a choice of 4 vehicles to choose from atleast will help me bargain between used car dealers.

I have only shown one to the mech, which I was keen on and TD that already 3 times.
