I was going through threads and discussion happening is tilted more towards BS4 vs BS6 and subsequent effect on the diesel injectors.
Nothing mentioned on BS3
BS III and older standard fuels had lots more parts per million (ppm) sulfur content in them. Those engines were well lubricated to that extent because sulfur lends a soapy-slippery feel to diesel.

No less than Hormazd Sorabjee have opined that the progressively lower sulfur levels in higher standards of fuel should begin to harm older engines.

But our member pious_devil had done his research and shared in the forum how Oil Marketing Companies would add synthetic lubricity additives in BS6 diesel so as to maintain lubrication levels. You can search for his thread here on the forum. So long story short - we should be good even with BS III engines in the BS VI era.

Re: Buying a used Mitsubishi Pajero SFX

There’s a 2009 Pajero 2.8 for sale - 2nd owner, first owner in MH, re registered in TN, claimed 1.4 odd lakh km, at a newly opened dealer just opposite my house in Chennai.

Mostly looks decent - a gruff engine that could urgently do with filter replacement but sounds reasonable, but the ABS light remains on when driving.

Can some kind soul please help look up history for this in one of the Mitsubishi dealerships?

What’s the usual cause for ABS light on here, a brake system failure or some sensor I guess?

A common problem in Pajero, need to connect with diagnostic syste.
Just FYI cost of one wheel ABS sensor is ~ INR 12,000/
Honestly its difficult to gauge condition by looking at pic. Take it to a Pajero specialist (anyways you will take it to him for service next time onwards) for inspection.
Please check gasket area for oil leakage or tell tale signs of engine being opened in the past.

Re: Buying a used Mitsubishi Pajero SFX

Didn't see any updates post January..

I am on the look out for a used Pajero myself.

Any words of advice / tentative prices for good specimens?

Would love to hear from the gurus.

Re: Buying a used Mitsubishi Pajero SFX

I have also joined the race and looking for a good pre-owned Pajero. My only apprehension is the availability of spares and service at namma Bengaluru. I do see lot many of these beasts on road and hopping there is a good mechanic or a service station around to take care of the periodic service and repair. Any expert opinion from Pajero owners on the service and support situation in Bangalore is highly appreciated and will help us take the plunge

You should connect with our good friend Mr Cool Dube on the forum. His Pajero SFX is lovely. And these vehicles last forever. No need to worry too much about spares. If you cant get them in India, they are very easily available out of Dubai, Thailand, Sri Lanka even. I can recommend Ranjith Ballal of RAC Motors. He knows his 4x4’s.

Ok then , been a silent spectator on this post , but guess a good time to jump in .
Been following Dhanush & Cooldube for quite sometime .
And today i have finally managed to get my hands on to a well maintained Pajero in Bangalore.
@cooldube , since i have no PM access i did mail you on the ID you have provided above.

Would need help from members on
1) A good garage where work can be done.
2) The blinking lights on 2H are there & will check as per what coodube has stated.
3) There seems to be oil leak from the oil sump & not any where else ( any reasons to worrry ? )

Attached images all i could manage to click.

Re: Buying a used Mitsubishi Pajero SFX

A friend is interested in buying a 2008 vantage Pajero. He currently drives a Fortuner. He is based in Ahmedabad.

Are there any Pajero specific threads that I can refer to know more about the car, its manual and exhaustive list of OEM spares, etc.?
