That is the bike they took to RTO's around the country to register. I guess its a way of informing that its being launched here or something. That's what the sales manager of Honda told me when he called me.

He said if someone is interested then he'll work out a price. I think it'll be atleast a lakh cheaper because it doesn't have ABS.

And with Harley Davidson making an entry into the Indian market, you've definitely got more options.

I have a very specific query. Between the R1 and the MT-01, which one do you think is better suited for a short rider (5' 5"). I would imagine a MT-01 is a taller bike but haven't seen either in the flesh so wondering if you can throw some light on this.

The MT is indeed a taller bike, and is more suited for someone with a larger frame than yours.
But, why are you considering only options from Yamaha? Move over the Suzuki stable, the boulevard and hayabusa are slightly more suited to the shorter folks. The front location of the gear and rear brake lever on the boulevard would take some getting used to though.

my cake goes for the busa. If you love the speed, nice road presence, touring etc go for the busa dude. Its the fastest, meanest ride on town.Plus it's got 3 modes,. In A mode - get 600cc which's more than enough for city use. In B mode and C mode you can fly through the highways. No other sbk in the market can get you these comforts. So go for it mate.

Thanks guys. Not quite sure if I can really throw money at these bikes yet (without LOTS of explaining at home). My ideal budget would be 6 - 8 L for a Kawi 650R kind of bike but since those don't seem like they're coming anytime soon oggling at these as well.

I saw the MT 01 in the flesh today at Kamala Yamaha Lower Parel (they happen to have it on display just for a week or so). The bike is much bigger than I imagined and even though I'm quite stocky its clearly inappropriate for my body frame.

The Busa I would imagine though heavier would be more suitable given its shorter seat height. Suzuki flats said that it doesn't keep any display bikes in the showroom which means I'll have to check out the Busa only when I'm out of the country at some intl showroom.
