How can you forget the Sprint and the Street/Speed Triple? Ideal for India.

Re: Superbikes spotted in India

Almost each bike in the Triumph line up has something interesting for most bikers. Their fit, finish & reliability are second to none and if they price their bikes sensibly in India (unlike BMW who have gone way off mark), Triumph is here for the long haul. Eagerly waiting to hear more on this.

Haroon I have checked with BMW and 16 lakhs for the R1200GS and 17 for the R1200GSA with a lot of kit is not a way off price point.

I think with the 105% duty etc the price is now as good as the rest of the manufacturers in india.

Yeah it's killer, my friend has one & is not planning to sell. So finally I can get my hands on her, unless they don't plan to get her here.

I was told the on-road price of the GS/GSA is 23+ lacs (atleast in bangalore). Mainly coz they have decided to only bring in the 'full option' bikes with all the bells & whistles which puts it beyond the reach of a lot of genuine enthusiasts (with the exception of some rich 7-series owners with lose change wanting it as a fashion accessory). I am sure if they bring the base model bikes & also at the prices you have mentioned on-road, that would make some sense and there will be takers for the base models as well. So far not seen anything on the F800, which is an excellent bike for India and with a more affordable price tag.

Re: Superbikes spotted in India

Well Haroon I had called up Deutsche Motoren in Delhi and had a chat with Head of sales for Motorrad there. He had quoted these prices Ex-showroom Delhi.

Maybe for Bangalore the On road prices will be quite a lot but here in Dehradun the registration rate is a flat 2500 for motorcycles regardless of the price. So it doesn't hurt much at all. Even the K1300R is priced at 16 lakhs Ex-showroom.

With these being the fully loaded models with ESA and ABS etc.So i find these a fair deal.I am just keeping my fingers crossed for my plans this year.

Thanks for the correction navpreet. Sure, its a good deal at the prices you have mentioned. Now like Ducati & Harley also having models in the sub 10 laks range to entice buyers, BMW I hope can come up with something in the near +/- 10 lac figure in the F800 range. Guess I am asking for too much

Re: Superbikes spotted in India

The 800CC range would have been so much perfect for india.Because of our tighter mountains the roads have tighter turns and hence atleast in the mountains of north india the R1200GS cannot be ridden fast because of its size. The 800 would have been a perfect tool. But alas the 2cc deficit makes it a no go in the CBU category.

Only if BMW Motorrad becomes as proactive as the Car division in india and starts assembly of the bikes in india i bet they will sell in very good numbers.

(Not that I doubt Mr KF's potential, but he doesnt seem to be a king of biking times)

Yes, went for their market research survey on Sunday.

They were not specific about any model that would be launched but instead they showed us the entire line up of 21 bikes and wanted feedback as to which models would do well and how much they should be priced.

When asked about the time frame of the launch, the answer was "very soon".

Just love the Speed Triple. I'm quite sure they'll launch that.

dint you say that ,if it does not match Ninja 650R price ,then you and your friends are going for ninja then ? . Hope ninja's price becomes the benchmark for others to beat it .
