Hi guys!

I'm trying to send back two bikes on transfer of residence (TR) from the U.S. I wanted to know if anyone is familiar with the formalities involved. I understand that a used bike is liable for 35% duty, I was wondering if thats the case for the second bike as well? The Govt on Ind customs website is pretty vague on the subject, would greatly appreciate it if anyone can throw light on the subject.

p.s. Is it sufficient if I throw in some fuel filters or am I missing something (for a Ducati 749 and a M V Agusta Brutale)?

ScoobySti: I' strongly suggest reading through the following thread.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/everyt...ike-india.html

And, this is a detailed account of how prabhuav purchased and had his bike come down on Transfer of Residence.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motorb...ory-biker.html

Rpanicker (rajesh) also had his ninja shipped when he was moving back in 2005, don't think its that much of a hassle as many make it look if you have an efficient C&F agent.
Just ensure that both your mtorcycles have been on your name for over an year before you ship them, orelse you could be liable fora heavy penalty, and a good chance of the vehicle being sent back to the place of origin or being confiscated.

I doubt you will be allowed to get 2 bikes. I think you can only get 1. I would suggest you throw in some clutch plates, turn signals, brake/clutch levers & mirrors.

Nitin/Manish: I was there. Not this ride and not this gang, I think, but I've taken my 99 Blade many a time to the Maddur Cafe for brekker ...and we had 20 SBKs on one ride!
Great bikes- actually Very good bikes and EXTREMELY good riders- I've written about our rides somewhere on the forum.
