Internationally the Standard T7 is priced cheaper than the Tuareg 660, which makes sense because on paper the Tuareg outspec's or at minimum matches the T7. So it HAS to be cheaper than the outrageously overpriced Tuareg in India.

Would depend on which version of the T7 they finally get down.

It would make sense to get the Standard and Explore editions. The others are way more pricey and have seat heights that make it un-manageable for a lot of riders.

Absolutely Not even close. I had horrific experience with 2024 R3 with dealers inspite of the fact that R3 was existing in the past for about 3-4 years. No one in dealerships are equipped to sell these supersports/imports/ big bikes.

They are educated only to sell 150cc and scooters because that is the volume game. When I booked my R3 in bangalore, I asked about features I just got a smile with mild fear indicating they didn't have a clue. Also, accessories is a big No No with yamaha dealerships for these big bikes. Test drive is a big joke, I booked R3 and they gave MT15 key to have a feel

We have to bank on Yamaha's reliability & god to save us . For parts and accessories we have to do our home work on our own to figure out ourselves.

I’m not sure of how this works but as per what I have read and heard the Tuareg is priced so high because it’s made in Italy imported as a CBU.

The 2024 Tiger 900 and the Desert X are also imported as CBUs but are made in Thailand.

Apparently CBUs from Thailand are taxed lower rates. So if this is true, as the Ténéré is made in France and Japan, Yamaha may have to price it high like the Tuareg.

Maybe someone with more knowledge about this can clarify.

Thailand imports are always priced competitively in India due to the trade deal AFAIK. Kawasaki, Honda, Ducati, Triumph, all make use of it.

Lets take the case of Yamaha's own MT09. That motorcycle was priced so high compared to the likes of Street Triple and Z900, it was a major sales dud despite being a brilliant product. This was back in 2016-17. It was a good 2-3L more than the base versions of both Striple and Z.

I doubt it. I am 5'10" and I cannot flat foot a Himalayan 450. The Tenere is definitely taller.

It’s sad that we lose out on excellent bikes like these due to their pricing.
Another question would be the service. I’m not sure how good Yamaha service is for the bigger bikes.

How long does it take Yamaha to "consider" launching it? It's not like they have to set up a manufacturing unit. They just have to import a few and sell them here.
Suzuki and Honda already have ADV bikes and Kawasaki has the road biased tourers. Triumph, BMW and Ducati are also not doing too bad.

Re: Yamaha evaluating Tenere 700 ADV for India; Could be launched by late 2025

In my view, this will fail in the Indian market and Yamaha knows that. T7 is a very offroad biased bike with decent off the shelf kit and hence won't come cheap. We would expect a "killer pricing" because, hey its just 700cc and 70 odd horses. The Indian middle class biking community is just not large enough to absorb so many models. That too, we are a large country with that addressable market spread out - thus making it even more challenging to create a good network to service these bikes. We see that already with many premium bike makers earning a poor reputation.

With the premium bike segment expanding, we should be open to more Chinese bikes, in my view. Their models in the 300-900cc range come with good fit and finish, top specs and "killer pricing" that we Indians expect. Its difficult to get that value from the Japs or Europeans.
