The 1390 Super Duke GT has just been showcased at EICMA. It is going to be launched internationally in the first quarter of 2025. India should hopefully get this motorcycle end of 2025 or beginning 2026.

Cheers

But as years went by i realised 390 itself had more than what i as a rider was capable of extracting from it (on the road). So the dream of progressing to something bigger, the way i see, is probably not going to happen. Even if it does i think i will be fooling myself thinking i have got a better bike which i can ride better. When in fact i would have increased the skill (that i have)vs what the bike is capable of doing quotient.

One thing that stands out with ktms is that it revs quickly and drops quickly (due to the light flywheel) making it fun in narrow roads. The z900s engine lacks this character so it feels much different to the ktms and also the increased weight doesn't help it. I am not sure about the street triple though.
Yeah, I completely agree. It's probably not the right forum to discuss it, but 40-something bhp is probably what I'll personally find more than adequate for Indian conditions as well. As a CB300R owner, I don't think I've opened the throttle within the city (95% of my usage), or reached even close to the cornering clearance on my machine. As much as I'd love upgrade to a Trident, I don't think I'll be doing justice to the bike. But then the rationale probably goes out the window if you either have enough financial cushion, or your 'want' is strong enough

Is India ready for this madness? Are the riders skilled enough to handle these?

Happy riding,

Skillwise, I think there's no significant challenge with the 890 twins which are roughly based on Duke 790 platform.
A 1290/1390 is another matter, it has huge amounts of torque at lower revs, almost 2-4 times more than a typical liter class. This will definitely shock the riders who underestimate it, specially on first launch and ride. Its like a Busa without the huge weight, form and fairing. Thanks to electronics, they will manage well later on though.

Bigger issue is pricing:- A KTM bike aims to be the category beater, and succeeds a lot of times. But is a KTM 890 worth 40%~ more of its direct competitor, specially now that 990 exists, and there're a wide variety of issues with 890? Seems like dumping to me.

CBU anyways means a no-commitment launch:- You don't trust the market for that product for more than 1-2 hundred units per year.

Maybe years down the line, I'd love to get a 1390 second hand. Problem is, one still won't get it around 12-13L, as its a seller dominated market.

The 390 was a revolution. Let's hope they commit to a localised single cyl. within the 600 segment? I think the 490 will also be a twin, even though it doesn't have to be.

But that's what happens when Europe is priority No. 1, and we get a slice of the helping. Let's see how it will be though..

A large single sporty bike, like the 690 Duke. That'd be cool

By the way, the 490 project has been scrapped. Apparently the CFMoto 450s are based on the learnings from it.

Duke 690, so beautiful. I'm still wondering why it isn't here yet. I know big singles are a bit complicated, yet..

At the risk of going off topic, for a long time, I also thought that the 490 project has been shelved, but a recent (a month old?) article by Financial Times suggests otherwise, I posted that here: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motor...ml#post5874058 (KTM & Bajaj developing 490 Duke, 490 Adventure)

Now, its obviously not a conclusive proof. It could very well be an old article, recycled by a journalist. Or maybe an AI written article.
