Probably close to 10l ex showroom. A bit too close to the Zx6r. But there should be some people who value the slightly more relaxed ergonomics of the ZX4RR over the super sport ergonomics of the Zx6r.

Kawasaki alone is doing more for the big bike scene in India than all the other brands put together. Like yh 4R this should be a lot of fun too

re: Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR, now launched at 9.1 lakh

In my opinion, the one market segment no one is addressing is the small inline 4 segment.

All these bikes are ridiculously expensive and will never have mass market appeal. Plus the ZX4RR is a race tuned bike with corresponding ergonomics that go with it.

Make a basic inline-4 that sounds like a million bucks, doesn't have to be all high tech, 500cc max, and ANY form (faired/naked) would work. It would fly off the shelves at any price point below ₹5L. Look at the cult status Benelli has today despite all its flaws!

400cc and 80HP. Now that's advanced engineering right there.

I agree with you. Seems other than Kawasaki the Chinese are making headways into in line 4 engines.

CFMoto is working on a new 500cc in line 4 engine though details of the bike are scarce.

The Benelli tnt 600 was never 5l though. When it last sold it was over 6.3l ex showroom so close 7.5l on road. If it launches now in a BS6 avatar it will definitely be a lot more expensive.

Spoke with Whitefield Kawasaki in Bangalore.
They are not taking any bookings (thought i read it somewhere here).
The expected launch is this month (seems unlikely, could be June end July)

They will take an advance to block or keep you on top of the list if you are sure you want to buy this whenever it is launched. What I heard from local dealers here is the number of bikes imported is very limited and stocks will be allocated to dealers based on their expected booking.

90 days is a fair call from today to take delivery if someone is interested and pays some advance. Dealers will accept the advance and convert it into a booking once the formal announcement and release happens which may be later next month.

Chennai booking advance is 1L. They will deduct 25K in case you cancel. Seems a bit odd practice but this is what I understand. Madurai dealer does not practice this method and is open to take advance and return in full based on the stage of your booking. Far fairer than the Chennai dealer.

Waiting time quoted is 90 days at this point. They also do not have a clue about when the announcement will happen.

61K for the bidirectional shifter and the suspension upgrade seems reasonable. Buying this will be illogical but which bike buying is logical? This is a very good price considering the difference from the original Zx4r. Zx4r buyers may feel a little upset and will hope they can buy these accessories for that same difference.

They maybe able to buy the quickshifter but the chances of adjustable shocks + QS coming under 60k are very little. Especially considering Kawasaki parts prices. It is a little bit of a harsh move from Kawa to launch the 4r initially without any mention of a future 4RR arrival. A lot of 4R buyers bought it believing the 4RR was not coming here.

re: Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR, now launched at 9.1 lakh

This is similar to Jimny story. People wanted to be part of early buyers and bought it. Then complaining that the company took a new direction or decision is just childish. Even I will be one such child feeling cheated but in reality I am just jealous that someone is getting something better because they didn't buy something along with many others to feel exclusive.

In this case no one expected zx4rr. I am ok to pick someones zx4r for 7L so they can buy a zx4rr. Win- win for both of us..

I am not supporting either but just saying if I got the first 70 zx4r I would still be happy that I am part of the first few to own.

Head and shoulders above others with it's cutting edge technology when compared to the current crop of 400cc sportbikes in the market. But exorbitant price tag makes it an emotional purchase. Wish it was assembled out here in India.

re: Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR, now launched at 9.1 lakh

I am in the market for an inline 4 (not immediately, but by a year or so) for sport touring

There are only a few options

1) Z900 R
Pros:
Most powerful naked bike available in the <1000 cc class
Cheapest in terms of HP/rupee

Cons:
Heavy
Naked bike handling
Naked bike wind

2) CB650R
Pros:
Most beautiful naked bike by a mile
E-clutch will be a game changer when it comes

Cons:
Slightly expensive
Naked bike handling
Naked bike wind

3) CBR650R
Pros:
Arguably the best sport tourer
E-clutch will be a game changer when it comes
Is decent on race track too

Cons:
Expensive
Slightly heavy
Ground clearance

4) ZX4RR

Pros:
Highest power 400cc 4 stroke ever sold
Race ready suspension and electronics
Up down quick shifter
Sounds amazing
Nothing else like this exists (and may never exist)

Cons:
Expensive if you look at only the CC
Low torque
Ground clearance

My head says buy a CB650R for touring and continue using my R3 for track and in city rides
But my heart is like "ZX4RR or nothing"
