First sports adventure motorcycle to challenge the 200hp figure?

Everyone else seems to have been flirting with 170-180 hp. Won't be surprised if other European manufacturers respond to this next year with their own 200hp Multistradas and Tuonos.

The first indeed and you’re right, the others have been skirting in the 170-180 territory.

I do find the race to hit 200 bhp in this format of bike a bit pointless (although you could argue that the sports tourers like Hayabusa etc already went there first so why not a 17” front wheel shod ADV style bike).

I can’t imagine many places off a track where you’d really want 200 bhp instead of 170 and if its the track you hanker, well then … a supersports will still always be the real deal.

The numbers are anyways for bragging rights - most customers will not be able effectively to use 200+hp on road or track, regardless of the type of motorcycle - but still would want to be associated with those figures.

Meanwhile, BMW also updated the regular S 1000 XR to 175hp.

The bikes look great and a worthy competitors to tiger and multi. While 200 bhp is definitely an overkill, it is only on the M series which will be considerably more expensive and more rare. People will buy the normal one more, which in itself is extremely competent.

This is one motorcycle which does not get as much due as it should in India as I see majority prefer GSA, Multi or the Tiger. This is a bike you can take to track if you wanted and easily tour on as well. Problem I see is that if it was track you want you will pick S1000RR which is similarly priced and if you want just for Adventure then the other three probably make more sense due to price difference.

Haha.. that's why the +++

On a serious note 58 big ones. Gosh! This would be folks who really have money to dispose! I am sure there are lots of them.

Even the 1300 GS is supposed to run into the 30L bracket. The top version perhaps going up to 34/35?

Would definitely love to see n feel this MXR in flesh n blood! But I heard it's going to take at least 6 months for one to land here.

Major companies who are missing in this segment in India are KTM (1290 adventure) and Honda (Africa Twin). I saw an Africa Twin in Dehradun back in 2015, it looked like a bike which was ahead from its time.
