Hey, I was just scrolling through and admiring the V2 from the various weekend rides when I noticed this bit here. This is not good - did they sort it out finally and what was their explanation as to why it wasn’t done in the first place?

Separately, I can relate to a lot of the places that you ride to as I’ve also visited many of these while riding beyond Pune. Reminds me of what wonderful riding routes Puneites have at short throw.

They didn't provided any explanation but looks like they credited the tax quite late(sometime in May 2024) which resulted in late reflection in 26AS. I filed a rectification request once I received the tax receipt from them. I got the excess tax credited in my account late November finally.

I am trying that this doesn't repeats for Jimny.

You can say that again Axe!
Multistrada has further widen the spectrum where broken roads (aplenty in MH) can not be a hindrance for a ride.

Group ride on 1st Sunday of 2025

Big thanks to surjaonwheelz to convince abhi_tjet to come over for a group ride on a weekend.

From Faux to Fact | My Ducati Multistrada V2 | MY 2023 | 8000 kms up!-img_5115.jpg

We were bunch of regular riders, few new faces, few new bikes. Bikes in group were Ducati Multi v2, RE Interceptor, Triumph Tiger 800, Triumph Scrambler 400x, RE Meteor 350, UM Renegade Commando and Suzuki Vstrom SX250.
Tamhini-Lonavala circuit was planned for the ride with gathering points first in Sus and later Ghotawade. As usual, most riders didn't keep anyone waiting for too long. We were off quickly towards breakfast point, QuickBite after Mulshi. Sadly no food photos, perhaps we were either too hungry or eager to continue the ride.

After crossing some more curves of Tamhini ghat, we took a right turn towards Andharban for Lonavala. We knew part of it to be narrow and some bad roads. We stopped at a nice location for some photos.

After reaching back on old Mumbai-Pune highway, we just zoomed at highway pace. Some of us took a chai break whereas couple of riders went their way home.

Good balance of curvy country roads, broken patches, amazing nature (mountain and sky) views and highway riding pace. Thanks once again surjaonwheelz for arranging this.

Lovely summary and even better pictures. Reminded me of our group ride together to Pavna I think back when I had spent a few months in Pune. I had my Tiger 800 then.

Hope to ride with you folks sometime if I’m ever in Pune over an entire weekend with the bike.

Cheers.

Suhas, no convincing was needed for joining ride. The pleasure was all mine.

I can’t better the pictures taken by Suhas. I will just dump a couple from my phone.

There was mad rush in Tamhini today towards Konkan direction. At the forest area, there was almost a queue of 100 cars due to a slow moving truck. I was thanking my stars that I am on bike.
Further, Tamhini is pure emotion, loved revving the L twin on its curves.

The trip details which was around 230 kms in total. Multi’s fuel consumption rarely go below 20.

Descended to the other side of Kaas plateau after taking a breather here and started towards Satara.

Not sure if vehicles are allowed to use Kaas plateau patch to reach Satara/Tapola. I took the usual diversion and a couple of kms patch is still full dirt trail. This is how my shoes/pants looked after crossing that patch

The food court has Costa, Kailash parvat, Vaango among others.

Nice pictures and congratulations. You're literally just shy of your 10k mark now. I absolutely love the Koyna backwaters, Tapola and surrounding region. Really scenic although must be baking hot at the time. The Medha route makes for a lovely winding ride too with windmills only a slight detour en route.

Most of my miles also on the GS aren't from any multi-day long ride but mostly driven from weekend / Sunday rides only - just that I've been pretty regular with these so have managed the somewhat respectable ~1k per month run rate on the ODO. Feels good having spent so much on these bikes to at least manage to clock up regular miles on them.

Congrats on your milestone. You had one amazing journey with the machine. Considering the fact that its 2025 with loads of ADV options available in the market, had it not the Multistrada what would be your choice from the current offerings in the market? I have a planned trip in August to Ladakh and was thinking for options from pre-worshipped market.

Exactly my motto! One cant plan regular multi day outings throughout a year due to leaves/personal commitments, etc. However, weekend rides are the low hanging fruits which are quite sweet themselves.

Thanks for the nice words Rohan.
In 2025, irrespective of new/pre-owned, Tiger 900 (even GT variant) is a bike with which you can't go wrong, especially the terrain you want to take it to. For a more road focused adventures, I suppose Versys 1000 will be my choice if one isn't vertically challenged.

I am obviously keeping the exotics like Multistrada V4 and its n variants/ XR from BMW not in consideration.

All the best!

Not sure about your motorcycling history, height etc but for a new biker in India, my advice will be to keep it light and simple.

Not sure where you start riding from and end but let's say if it was Delhi, I will suggest get a prev gen ADV 390 or Tubeless Himi 411 or even the 450. Tubeless being the key.

The above is based on the assumption that you will come from Malmo, Sweden to India, buy a used bike, ride to Himalayas and on return, sell it and go.

Thanks a lot for your wonderful advice. Your assumption is absolutely right. I, too, had Himi 450 in mind, and surprisingly, they are available in large numbers when we talk about the used market.

Great thread! I just purchased a used 2020 950S in California (to replace my older Tiger) and have been reading through ADV forums before/after the purchase when I realized I should also check Team BHP for people's ownership experience with this beauty.

Wish I can enjoy the big Multi back home on Pune and surrounding roads - your ride posts are bringing back memories from 10 years ago when I used to go on weekly rides with a local Royal Enfield riding club.
