Re: Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R, now launched at 8.49 lakh

Are there multiple models of the ZX4R?
I recollect seeing ZX4RR being released earlier this year.

I think the India bound version has fork preload adjustability. Remember seeing it in their release materials.

This is what Autocar India says.

I dug into the Thailand Kawasaki website and it says SE version gets preload adjustable forks and not the base one. I'm not 100% sure about which version they are selling here but from the looks of it, it is the base. It is confusing

Good catch!

This is from an earlier article they wrote. So looks like the front suspension is 100% confirmed that it's non adjustable in India :(

Now this gives me hope that Kawasaki might make a Z400RS some day and launch here. Years ago saw a Honda CB400SF (arguably the best sounding I4) and fell in love with it. No hope from Honda but Kawasaki please do something about it. I think it will be a good city bike plus some highway touring and that sweet sounding I4.

Kawasaki has never adapted their ZX series bikes into nakeds before. The nakeds have always been derived from their Ninja series. So the chances of seeing a Z400 based on this engine is extremely remote.

Re: Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R, now launched at 8.49 lakh

I'm hoping to buy this bike by the end of the year. Hopefully we'll have a couple of ownership reviews up by then on the forum.
Last I rode a motorcycle was an Enfield bullet around 25 years back but don't think it should be too difficult starting off again. I had booked the Triumph 400 but ended up cancelling the booking.
I've always wanted to have one fully faired sports bike & its going to be purely for leisure city riding. Current choice is between the Ninja 400, the upcoming R3 & this one. My budget was originally around 7.
I just wanted to know if I don't really use it much & end up wanting to sell it in about a year, what is the approx depreciation one sees on a bike like this.

76bhp from a 400cc seems mighty impressive, even the new R7 makes less peak power! What's more insane is the fact that tuners have extracted 20 more bhp with a simple remap (in this case, the bike was an rr version).

Americans get the neutered version of the 4r due to emission norms. While we get the 76hp model . That's why the guy was able to extract 20hp with a tune. The US spec bikes make close to 55-60hp.

The engine is actually capable of producing 92 hp but to pass the regulations it has been restricted to below 80 hp for the Asian markets.

You can watch the below video to understand further.

Hi Guys,

Any idea about this version having a quick shifter and / or an auto blipper feature? It’s quite confusing as some people have posted on social media saying the Indian version although the base variant will have the ‘up and down’ quick shifter. IMO at this price point it should have one. I booked mine on the day it was launched. Awaiting to see this machine in flesh.
Thanks

Had enquired with my friend at the dealership about the same and he said that it can be added as it will be provided as an accessory. That feature is only available on the KRT version otherwise.

Congrats on booking the bike. AFAIK the Indian version doesn't come with a quickshifter as standard but you can get one installed.

Just out of curiosity may I know the reason to choose the ZX4r over something a lot more powerful like the Z900 or Street Triple R ?

Thanks bro !
Well. I already own the z900. It’s a fun bike and quite powerful too. The wind blasts bothers me at times. Did a 900 kms round trip from Mumbai to Gujrat a couple of months back and boy it was a breeze with the 900. Maybe the Zx4R will be a track oriented bike. It has all the making / sound of a bike big minus the speed which I honestly believe is difficult on our roads. These powerful machines are capable of doing much higher speeds but we seldom use them to their potential. (I do not advocate racing on streets) the fun of leaning and ducking with the 4R seems more realistic IMO. The rider posture is also more upright than the 6R/10R. I am 41 years young and not looking at speed thrills for now but the euphonious high revving inline-4 would definitely be music to my ears.
