BMW M 1000 RR superbike launched at Rs 49 lakh

BMW Motorrad has launched its flagship superbike, the M 1000 RR in India. It is available in two variants: standard and Competition, priced at Rs 49 lakh and Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

The M 1000 RR is the most track-focused version of the S 1000 RR. It is also the first production superbike to sport the 'M' badge.

The 2023 BMW M 1000 RR features a lightweight carbon fibre fairing with new aero-optimized winglets that are said to generate more downforce than before. Brake ducts are integrated into the new front mudguards and are designed to improve airflow around the fork legs and brake calipers. The bike is available with forged or M Carbon wheels.

The M 1000 RR is powered by a 999cc, inline 4-cylinder engine that generates 209 BHP @ 14,500 rpm and 113 Nm @ 11,000 rpm. It enables the superbike to hit 0-100 km/h in 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 314 km/h.

The engine uses BMW ShiftCam technology for varying valve timing and valve lift. It features lightweight 2-ring forged pistons with optimized piston rings, narrow and lightweight cam followers, CNG-machined intake ports, titanium valves, optimized camshafts, longer titanium connecting rods and shorter intake funnels.

The bike comes equipped with a 6.5-inch TFT display with M GPS Datalogger and M GPS Laptrigger. There are four riding modes: Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race Pro 1-3. Other features include electronic cruise control, heated grips, Dynamic Traction Control, Wheelie Control, ABS and ABS Pro, launch control and pit-lane limiter.

The M Competition Package adds several upgrades to the bike and includes the M milled parts package, M Carbon package, a 220g lighter swingarm, DLC-coated M Endurance chain and M Aero Wheels Covers.

I can't say the bike looks stunning because no matter what I can't ignore that hideous moustache. Same goes for the new Panigale V4s and some RSV4s although being Italian they tend to do a better job on the vanity front!
The M badge is kind of a gimmick too as there is no input from the famed M division
I'd still go ahead and buy for the performance and the CF but falling short of my budget by a mere 45 lakhs!

Obviously we would be lucky if we see one in our lifetimes. I hope whoever buys these does do justice to it and tracks it when possible.

Here is a video with possibly one of the quickest cars in the planet for comparison.
Compared to 9.6 Second quarter mile time of the SF90, the M1000 RR achieves 10.0 seconds with massive wheelies across multiple gears.

Although expected for the performance, price is eye-watering! Whoever has the kind of money to buy this bike will definitely not be used on road. I too hope whoever bought the bike does justice to it by taking to the track!

Re: BMW M 1000 RR superbike launched at Rs 49 lakh

Both BMW and the potential (rich) buyer know why these bikes are made. A very small number of rich enthusiasts probably will take them to the track but most of these would end up in some collection and probably that's what the intention is anyway.
I don't even think it's targeted at a club racer or a low level racing team, given the price.

Re: BMW M 1000 RR superbike launched at Rs 49 lakh

If they had priced the bike and subsequent parts/service right, then I feel it would have appealed to actual riders and not collectors.

A BMW M1000RR goes for around INR 26Lac in South Africa.

I do not understand what is happening with car and bike prices in India! They are absurdly high! Are we the only country taxing vehicles in the world? Can someone explain this to me
