Received the DUCABIKE quick release gas cap and CNC Racing clutch slave. Just opened them today to check them out. Quality as expected is top notch and waiting for the monsoons to get over to put them on the bike.

Re: Ducati 848 EVO Corse Review | Story of Bianca

To keep the battery healthy I start up Bianca every weekend and the other bikes once every fortnight. The throttle cable was on my mind to be replaced but was not planning to order a replacement yet. However, the last time I rode the bike in my building premises I noticed that the throttle wouldn’t go back to the idling position when I de accelerate and knew this is going to be an issue going forward. So, now before starting the bike I just turn the accelerator completely multiple times to just loosen up the cable internally.

Have requested Lanesplit to arrange for a replacement and decided to go with the Domino XM2 Throttle Control Assembly along with the Domino throttle cable and Domino (A450 series) grip set.

Thank you for for your appreciation.

My first criteria was to get the bike in 100% mechanically running condition and considering the age the timing belts and fork oil seals were the main parts that had to be addressed. Now, once the monsoons are done I can peacefully complete the running in process of the engine.

With regards to accessories I do have to admit that I have gone bonkers with my purchase list for the EVO, which was not the case with my Busa. But, I am happy with whatever I have ordered till date and while I haven't captured these parts and their pricing in an excel sheet yet, I know they are already in the five digit range cost wise.

I had listed down the accessories already ordered in my post #41 but a few more items have been added since then as below:

1) DUCABIKE Fuel Tank Cap
2) CNC Clutch Slave
3) R&G Mirror Blanks
4) Tappezzeria seat
5) Samco radiator coolant hose kit in red
6) Domino XM2 throttle control assembly
7) Domino throttle cable
8) Domino A 450 grips

All the above parts will go on the bike post monsoon except for the Samco hoses which will g on next year when the coolant will be replaced (every 2 years).

Next, on the wish list is to change the rear shock and I was thinking of changing to Ohlins but was recommended to look at an Italian brand called Matris, which are supposed to be better and are also cheaper than Ohlins. The reason I am thinking of a replacement is to get the rebound adjusted for my liking, which really throws me off on broken roads on the OE setup.

Shall keep the thread updated but I guess nothing important to pen down except for the weekly warming up and if any new accessory gets added to the list

Re: Ducati 848 EVO Corse Review | Story of Bianca

With the monsoon seasons coming to an end the motorcycles and this page is going to see some action in the coming days and months.

Was in Gurugram/Noida the whole of last week (no prizes for guessing the reason) and collected the last lot of parts which were carried over from Singapore by my good friends at Lanesplit. Also, this was the first time that the parts didn't reach Mumbai as has been the case where Bhpian no_fear would handle deliver it so kindly whenever he makes a trip to Mumbai.

It's time to add some more bling to the Italian beauty and make it shine a lot more. The bike was neglected for over a decade and that is the reason it's getting so much attention among all my bikes in such a shot span.

Stay tuned...

Bianca, is the only bike in the collection which is the closest I will ever come to owning something that matches a MotoGP bike of its era. The engine obviously doesn't match the GP bikes but the riding and handle bar positions including the dash console are inspired from the Ducati MotoGP bikes of back in its day. Bluebird (Busa) has never got so many cosmetic upgrades and especially so early in the ownership but as you say we are getting older faster than we ride our bikes, so, its time to make every moment counts while it lasts.

Re: Ducati 848 EVO Corse Review | Story of Bianca

First long ride after the monsoon hibernation for Bianca and decided to go to town (South Mumbai) as the national highway towards Gujarat is not in a good state with many potholes. Also, it turned out to be a good decision as my friend who joined me on his CB 1000 had a battery issue and it refused to start once we reached our first halt near Horniman circle. Once we got back on our bikes to head to have breakfast the bike just would not start and we tried push starting it a couple of times without any luck and finally called a flat bed tow truck to take the bike back home.

Back to Bianca, this was my third long ride after I got the bike back in April. I had taken out the bikes on Saturday to fill in air at home and a trip to the petrol pump to fill up. I wanted to check how much the fuel consumption was after I had parked Bianca in end of May with a full tank and with routine weekly warm up to keep the battery healthy throughout the monsoon. So, in four months the fuel consumed was a little over 5 liters and that is about the same quantity of fuel used in today's ride which was roughly 90 kms.

The sticky throttle did bother me yesterday when I rode to the fuel pump and back but had no issue today and also the bike didn't feel uncomfortable heat wise and the temperature would stay in the high 70's when on the move.

I want to finish up the 1000 km running in soon so I can fit all the accessories that have arrived and also can change the oil and filter at that time instead of opening the bike twice.

Hopefully should be done my early November if not earlier 🤞

Re: Ducati 848 EVO Corse Review | Story of Bianca

Took Bianca for a short spin to Bandra and back and it was the first time I could make an immediate comparison between Bluebird (Busa) and Bianca as earlier I rode the Busa within the city for a round trip of 80+ kms. As it was it's first outing post monsoon took it gentle for a few kms to confirm the bike was functioning as desired. Post jumping on to Bianca the first thing you notice is the seat is really firm which eventually settles down and doesn't bother you much after a few minutes of riding. Second thing I noticed is that my speeds are much higher on Bianca as even in running period it can't be ridden gently as the L twin motor hates being ridden slow and starts acting up. Also since I took out the bike post 9:30 am the engine temperature was always in the high 80's/90's depending on the speeds I could maintain with traffic around.

I normally ride only 1 bike in a day with the exception of the two strokes for a short under 10 km spin. But since it has been two weeks since I last rode started up Bianca and wanted to ride the Busa too so it just happened to be so.

Just one day of riding in the week is why I keep telling myself no more bikes to be added in the collection but still ended up going to Kawasaki showroom to checkout the ZX 4R. It's good they told me the next lot will be available for delivery in March/April or might have ended putting down a deposit to book the bike

Re: Ducati 848 EVO Corse Review | Story of Bianca

I am a bit late to this great thread but hearty congratulations on a beautiful beautiful bike! And awesome to see you take such good care of it while keeping it as stock as possible.

The 848 was one of the best looking bikes Ducati ever made, along with the 1048. I used to own the base 848 (not EVO) a long time ago and still have very fond memories of it. A proper old school unforgiving super sport with brilliant torque through the rev range.

Have you planned any mods on it? The Termis sound glorious on it if you can get them. Also, have you changed the rear linkage to a linear one? If not, that would be a good mod - it will make the rear ride much more plusher. Also, mine used to understeer in chicanes like crazy on stock setting - raising the front end by dropping the forks till you have just one line/no line show actually helped the bike behave better. This was one of the oddities of the 848 - other bikes benefit from lowered front ends for quicker turn ins but trust Ducati to build something that goes against the norm. Maybe worth trying if you feel the bike is slow to steer at slow speeds.

Happy riding and do keep this thread updated - just lovely to see such a wonderful bike kicking things about in India!

It indeed is a beautiful looking motorcycle from every angle and that under seat twin exhaust and single sided swingarm is just magnificent to look at. In the riding department the ergonomics are definitely unforgiving and the motor demands a lot from the rider as well but when everything works as desired it all feels worth it as that experience is something only a Italian motorcycle can offer. I am waiting to complete the running in to get a taste on what is on offer post 5k rpm.

I have already ordered a bunch of accessories/parts, which I have mentioned in my earlier post #51 and #52 and I plan to put them during the oil change post completion of 1k kms. On the Termi's I am at the moment not keen as I want to maintain the stock exhaust but maybe I might change my mind when I hear one in person. Another Bhpian has them fitted on his bike and maybe I hear them I might make a final decision to buy them while they are still available.

On the handling the bike rides very stiff as expected and I need to be very careful to not ride fast over uneven surface or I would get tossed over the bike. Haven't had any issues with slow turns as yet except for my hand hitting the inside of the fairing at the full lock while turning left or right.

With 250 kms up at least the DR 4 rubbers has run in now and I can already get a feel of what wonders this rubber combination with that razor sharp brake setup can do and am waiting for my first high speed corner experience on this Italian rocket.

A very astute point. I agree with you on this, as I experienced the same. My 848 Evo red front end is much lower than my 848 Evo Dark. Both bikes along with SnS's bike arrived in the same consignment. The red was set up for race, while the black and Sns white were set up for street. Long story short - the black one handles way better with a raised front end. I believe it has to do with the bike's CG and the way the engine weight shifts along the trellis frame when you tinker the suspension and ride height settings. I read about it online a while ago. I think it's the similar reason the Multistrada makes a good track machine, even though it's a totally different animal.

Re: Ducati 848 EVO Corse Review | Story of Bianca

First proper 200 km outing for Bianca on the open highway and what an experience it was. This is my regular Sunday route and it's a little over 100 km one way ride and on the way my friend rode Bianca for the last 40 kms while I was riding his CB 1000. His first reaction was the bike feels so light and precise and the seating position is really extreme but the biggest feedback was how many geras does this bike have as you really feel you're shifting up more than six gears and all this is under 5k rpm. On the other hand his CB 1000 behaved the same in all gears and there was no noticable drop or increase in power with every downshift or upshift how you experience on Bianca.

Coming from the Busa I can really appreciate the missing kgs on Bianca as it's so effortless to corner and that too with razor sharp precision. Speaking of sharp the suspension setup really hates bad uneven tarmac and encountered a hand full of them where apart from hand and wrist even my knees felt the blows. Also, it may be the reason for the left fork seal to leak again and I will have to wait and watch to see how bad it is over the coming days. I do have a spare pair of seals and I hope the cause is the broken and road and not the amount of time it's spent on the tarmac since April for the seal to fail.

Almost, halfway through for the running in and should be done in the next 20 days with a few festive holidays coming up.

Owning an Italian was never on my hardcore wishlist but I am glad I took the plunge as this is an experience every biker should once experience as after riding an Italian L twin the Japanese inline fours will actually feel boring as these bikes are more demanding and involving and demands your attention 100% all the time. Not sure how the new age V 4's compare to the drama of an L twin but if I ever go down that route it has to be the RSV4. 😄
