2022 Ducati Panigale V4 launched at Rs. 26.49 lakh

Ducati has launched the 2022 Panigale V4 in India. The superbike is available in three variants – V4, V4 S and V4 SP2, with prices starting at Rs. 26.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Ducati has made some changes to the aerodynamics of the Panigale V4 for the 2022 model year. Besides updated aero, the bike also gets some ergonomic tweaks, new electronics and revisions to the engine and chassis.

The bike gets twin LED headlamps with winglets on either side. These aero blades have been redesigned and Ducati claims they generate 37 kg of downforce at 300 km/h.

Powering the Panigale V4 is a 1,103cc V4 engine that makes 212.5 BHP @ 13,000 rpm and 123.6 Nm @ 9,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike has four power modes – Full, High, Medium and Low, and riding modes.

The Panigale V4 rides on 43 mm adjustable Showa BPF front forks and an adjustable Sachs monoshock at the rear. The S and SP2 variants get electronically adjustable Ohlins suspension, while braking is handled by twin 330 mm discs at the front and a single 245 mm disc at the rear.

The SP2 variant is available in Ducati’s Winter Test Livery, Marchesini forged aluminium wheels, carbon fibre wings, heel guards and front fender and STM-EVO SBK nine-disc dry clutch.

2022 Ducati Panigale V4 ex-showroom prices:

V4 - Rs. 26.49 lakh
V4 S - Rs. 31.99 lakh
V4 SP2 - Rs. 40.99 lakh

Re: 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 launched at Rs. 26.49 lakh

Good lord!!!

Ducati was not joking last year when they told me that prices will increase by 15% in India.

So now the 2022-23 V4 = 2018-2021 V4S pricing. The V4S pricing is close to the 21 V4SP. As for the SP2 pricing, I really have no comments. For updated electronics, and a slightly different tank, the price hike is now additional 5 lacs. At this price point, I would rather buy a V4R.

We had a rather spirited discussion about used bike prices in another thread, but after seeing the current Panigale prices, I am sure I can sell my 18 V4S at a higher price than what I purchased it for. Not that I intend to, but the price jump for the new models is really absurd.

It's a lot of $$$ to buy these bikes now in India. Makes me wonder how will Kawasaki, Honda and Suzuki price their liter class offerings in 2023.

Re: 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 launched at Rs. 26.49 lakh

Ducati knows that someone who wants a Panigale V4 would not consider any other option.

While the RSV4 is available, having a local Ducati dealership in major cities is a key differentiator. Especially given the financial investment involved. Not just in acquisition, but also maintenance/upkeep.

There is simply no competition.

The I4 Japs are nowhere close to this scale of desirability and an I4’s character is not for those looking for a V4.
The S1000RR is a budget alternative (sounds wild, but that’s what these Panigale prices amount to relatively). However, BMW doesn’t participate in two wheeled motor sport - which is not a desirable for the brand.

Margins must be extremely high with this pricing, fair enough as this is a limited volume offering.

This is a bike to keep forever.

Or in my case, a forever wallpaper/poster.

BMW very much participates in motosports such as WSBK, Bennett's Superbikes, Endurance World Championship, Motoamerica etc with their S 1000 RR and the BMW M 1000 RR

As you rightly said, it's not as desirable! If motosports pedigree is considered then Kawasaki ZX-10R leads with 6 WSBK titles.

Cheers to Ducati wallpapers

I was also gobsmacked when I saw the prices. Even by exotic standard this is insane. The S1000RR certainly makes a compelling case for itself, specially at these prices for the red devil.

Its a good thing I bought my Panigale when I did - looks like its the only version of this bike that I can afford. LOL

This is a very interesting observation. I benchmark the RSV4 and the V4 as the same. Both use top end products, have storied pedigree and well represented in the championships. Piaggio has a half baked marketing plan and sales strategy in India, so Aprilia suffers. They are happy selling scooters.

I believe V4 sales volumes were decent in India. My measurement metric is the insta posts . Jokes aside, this is the product that Ducati wants riders to aspire to. The base model overseas pricing was comparable to BMW, Aprilia and even Yamaha. The gap was wider with the S and R models, as those were high margin and super premium.

But now the delta of almost 10 lacs between base V4 and a Japanese I4 is really too much. I am sure there will be buyers - me included, but the sticker shock is still a lot to overcome.

S1000RR is a great bike in its own right. For that matter, all the Jap litre class supersports are too. There’s nothing like a bad/average product in this class. All of these motorcycles have evolved to perfection over several generations.

Wouldn’t it feel nice however, to watch a Ducati take the podium after having splurged 40L on one.

Motor sport = Moto GP or Dakar (for ADVs)

Re: 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 launched at Rs. 26.49 lakh

crazy pricing, but then if you can sell it, price it as per your wish, this has been a trend in Automobile industry.V4 on other hand is an extremelt desireable product. Though unlike many saying V4 being the pinnacle, it all boils down to personal preference, for me it is S1000RR, and the sport version is much cheaper now then the V4.

Living daily with S1000RR is also easier as it does not become balls boiler after a short amount of city riding, and posing a challenge for the rider to be able to reproduce in near future. Both bikes will have own admirers, but at that price point I will buy the S1000RR top end eyes closed personally.

Though looking at my bank balance I can't afford either even with my eyes Wide open!!

IIRC Aprilia won 7 before bowing out of WSBK and is one of the most successful motorcycle racing teams in history: 52 world titles, I know since it's printed on my bikes tank

I think they realised they will sell the same amount of bikes even with the obscene price increases (which is true for V4) and happy to take more margin. If I remember V4 was launched at 20 Lakhs and is now 26.5 lakhs ex-showroom and arguably the older bike is better since it was BS4 and likely made more power. Other than that they are practically the same bikes (mechanically) with some minor updates over the years.
