Its true i guess, saw a interview on TV and the guys at Yamaha have a few R1's being tested.

Wow !!! This is good, any idea of what they will price this at ? I am sure it is going to be exorbitant !! I am keeping my fingers crossed. Just maybe .. one day..

Great News!!!!!! Yamaha R1, now we are talking!!!!!!!!
Hope that its not too costly, but i guess it would be around 6L+ easily
would seriously consider buying it instead of my next car

for those who wish to know how the MT-01 looks like :




This is an awesome move by Yamaha. The MT-01 sells for around USD16000 or 6.4Lac, which means the ex-factory price should be around 4.8Lacs or so, which means a landing price of almost 10Lacs here, which can easily push the OTR price to 11Lacs.

The R1 on the other hand should sell for around 9Lacs OTR, not bad considering u get backup, warranty,spares,insurance,loans etc, which till date, no grey importer was providing in India

Err Bunty - those are PROTOTYPE pics from a few years back. The production MT-01 looks different (eg., the spring/damper for the rear swingarm is BELOW the engine, not above as shown in the prototype pics).
