At the end of the day, its another great option for us as customers. Sure, it may not appeal to 9 out of 10 enthusiasts here or in the real world, but that 10th person will be super excited to bring home an inline 4 from Honda.
To come to think of it, if Honda isnt going for the numbers then this makes sense.
Being a x 1000rr owner i can vouch for their service and service center experience. It feels like a second home(in a good way). I wouldnt leave honda for any other manufacturer for the whole and sole reason of the excellent service support that they have here in bombay.
What you lose in upfront cost like someone said, you make up in pocket friendly service and piece of mind.

Honda boys would agree to this.

Re: 2021 Honda CB650R and CBR650R launched at 8.67 & 8.88 lakhs

Really a sweet little expensive surprise from Honda.
First they priced CB500X so high, now this. It is really hard to justify the pricing of Honda for this one.
Anyway at least we do have something from Honda.

Re: 2021 Honda CB650R and CBR650R launched at 8.67 & 8.88 lakhs

People who have a preconceived notion about easier part availability and good after-sales service by HONDA should now know,
that they are focussing more on the mass-market models now, e.g. H'ness, RS.

Unfortunately, my friend went down when a silly driver hit him from behind on an e-way,
The bike only had cosmetic damage & most of the credit goes to the good frame sliders for that (never cheap out on protective gear for Bike). My friend had all the riding gear, hence escaped unscathed from the fall with just some minor bruises.

We sent the bike to Honda via a flatbed and initiated the insurance process & parts ordering.

I am writing this after more than 1 month that the bike is still parked there, waiting for parts from outside India (can't recall the country of origin ATM).

I think Kawasaki is doing much better on this front.

I have owned many big bikes over the years,
e.g. Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Triumph, Honda,
Never faced a delay with any for more than a couple of weeks.

Just a heads-up before somebody decides to shortlist this into their buying list.

This is the same scenario with Triumph as well.

BTW, forget big bikes, I'm unable to source rubbers for fairings, seats, front fenner, engine case cover, mirrors...not for 1000, not for 650...the puny single cylinder 250 that was launched a decade ago!!

My friend who has a CBR250R struggled to source a tank for it after the older one developed rust. Honda took about 3 months to source a blue coloured tank for his bike in Pune.

PS: Anyone buying a superbike must be ready for months of downtime in case of a fall/accident/major repair. This is another reason why the likes of the Royal Enfield 650s/KTM 390s are much more usable in an Indian context.

Cheers,

Jay

State-wise pricing details for the CB650R has been updated on the website (whereas the CBR still isn't!).

The bike is priced in Kerala at 8,74,750/-

Re: 2021 Honda CB650R and CBR650R launched at 8.67 & 8.88 lakhs

Here are some pics of the cbr in flesh. To be honest selling this as a 10Lakh rupee bike is going to be a challenge for Honda.
The colors that i saw at the showroom were red and black.
Some how i feel the front looks dislocated fromt he back. The back should have been slightly tighter in lines than what we see here. Ofcourse the saree guard is an eyesore but that a huge passaenger seat. The seats should have been split.
Didnt get a change to ride it though.

What makes you say this? Does the bike not look like a 10 lakh bike, considering we already that based on specifications purely, the bike is overpriced.
Does is look like a cheaper bike?

Hey Dan, thanks for the pics. Any idea when and if they will start the test rides? Red and black are the only colors available for us and most other countries I guess although there were a couple of more shades like white and blue which we never got here for the CBR650r.

I'm not sure if you felt the seats weren't split due to the plastic covers but the seats are split and stepped as was the case with old CBR650r. (Refer the screen grab below from this YouTube video at around 3:32 mark)

Re: 2021 Honda CB650R and CBR650R launched at 8.67 & 8.88 lakhs

I know looks are subjective but the bike is gorgeous in flesh. Thank you for the pics!
Personally, I will be going for it since I'm a sucker for faired motorcycles.

Also, coming from a red r15v2 and a red rr310, this red 650r makes the perfect upgrade for me.

I really don't mind that it's slightly overpriced because it ticks all the right boxes.
More than enough power for Indian roads, looks, sound, comfort and reliability.

Re: 2021 Honda CB650R and CBR650R launched at 8.67 & 8.88 lakhs

Looking at the pics and the video, it seems the Matt Black version is not too Matt Black as the name suggests. The front headlight panel, tank and rear panels are not matt black and shiny. The earlier version of the CBR650R was completely matt black. Seems this is some change in 2021 version of the CBR650R in Indian market. Other South-east Asian markets get a complete matt black version as per videos on youtube.

Thank you for the pictures.
In my opinion the big passenger seat (not split but stepped up) help CBR in its credential of sports tourer which can actually seat a pillion for more than just breakfast rides.

The only thing which I too miss a bit in my Street Triple.
This is one of the USP of CBR 650R apart from the usual Honda reliability.

Its going to be difficut to sell yes because of the price and the competition it faces. Not many would pay 10+ for a fully faired 650cc motor.
At 10.5ish the used market will upgrade you to the 1000cc category be it honda or any other brand/model.

Some how missed the seats. Your right they are split. The plastics made it feel like it were one.

Test rides will begin once the bike is registered.

Just saw the video, the black looks so mediocre now, side profile is borderline giving it a commuter bike look. We have a matt black one in our riding group, and it looks so gorgeous.

Previously it was a tough pick between red and black, Honda made it easy this time for majority of the users.

Honda CBR650R, CB650R deliveries begin in India. Both middleweight bikes were launched in March 2021.
