Comfort wise - both aren't great. Striple has softer seat padding with no grip/texture. I slide around a lot more than d390. I've done 400 kms days on both. KTM's were achy around the thighs and butt after 250kms in the highway. Striple seats are comfy but hurts the wrist after 300kms.
Hey, thanks a lot for the feedback. With my riding style I guess I just need to keep fit and put comfort aside for a while. I really don't do touring so I should be able to manage the ergos. I test rode a trident and it was quite comfortable but I felt it might not be as challenging or thrilling as the STR 6 months down the line.
I can't wait to get my hands on the new 2013 striple which I've pre booked ahead of its reveal in Nov.

Just out of curiosity, if you had to highlight that one single omg wow moment of difference between the D390 and STR what would it be?

I have only ridden the Duke 390 a bit but am an ex owner of the Street Triple RS. There is no single oh my God moment, the Street Triple has it all in comparison to the 390, in fact there is no comparison on anything, the Triple is on another planet.

Just open the throttle on the RS to the redline through the gears, if you are not on a closed road or very, very careful one could easily meet God, if you know what I mean. The acceleration through the gears is incomparable and the front Brembo M50 brakes are pure heaven to keep you in the land of the living.

You will have a blast on the RS, enjoy and ride safe.

Cheers

I am facing a weird problem of air loss from rear tyre despite no puncture, no air loss from sidewall-rim contact area as well as no visible rim damage.
Dealership suggested to switch to air since nitrogen can sometimes lead to a white moist layer which lead to pressure loss and not easily traceable.
I am monitoring this.

My last option is to remove tyre from rim, check for damage, clean, put it again and further observe.

Any inputs?

The tyre valve itself could be the problem. It happened to me!

Stupid of me to skip this detail. Valve too was changed in initial diagnosis.

That's a tough one but one that still makes me go wow still over D390 (and my other bikes) is the fueling and throttle to engine connection. Everything feels snappier and instant doesn't matter the riding mode. Not that D390 is bad but Triumph just wowed me right away with that.

Not sure which tyres you are currently using, but my experience with Vredestein tyres has been so-so. I use it on my Street Twin at the rear and within 1000kms, I have already had 3 punctures and unexplained pressure loss at times.
I would strongly recommend using Michelin/Metzeler or similar high-quality tyres for the street triple R/RS.

I might check for a faulty tpms, valve and/or variations in ambient temperature. Check your parking location, is your rear tyre protruding out in the cold? This could show around 2-3 psi lesser than the front. There also may be some truth in what the dealership is mentioning. After using nitrogen for many years, I switched to air and noticed that the tyre pressure is more consistent. Being a but fussy about the correct tyre pressure, I use a portable air pump to keep them at optimal levels regularly. I strangely seem to have lesser air loss and variations than with nitrogen. Let us know once you find the issue.

I finally visited the store in Kothrud from where I got tyres fitted in my bike. I asked them to check puncture once before taking out the tyre for checking rim damage, etc.

And on first look itself, they found the culprit. I already had a puncture on rear tyre. The same spot was leaking air again. They fixed it thoroughly and hopefully it should be ok now.
I have ridden more than 500kms since and it looks all ok.

Update time - 20000 kms on odometer

Triple crossed the 20k kms milestone earlier this week after 28 months and couple of weeks.

20k! A figure not seen by many first owner of a street naked / Supersports bike

My 2020 Triumph Street Triple R BS6 Review | EDIT: 22,000 km up & sold-img_5297.jpeg

After a dream run of more than 19500 kms in more than 2 years, the bike finally gave a typical hiccup of Triumph Street Triple. Engine was dying in 1st gear in traffic situation when we engage/disengage clutch.
Took it to the service center for throttle body cleaning and it resolved the issue. Meanwhile, also changed the throttle body rubber mounts. They were developing slight cracks.

This is what I was talking and it made my wallet lighter by 5.5k

Apart from this, it’s a joy to own this bike. Power delivery though still scary has now become predictable. I know when exactly to release throttle at straights or ghats before it goes out of my control.

I still haven’t ridden this bike during night on unknown roads. All exploration is done only in broad day light.

Tires are holding good but grip, as I have mentioned earlier, is pretty average on sudden throttle movement.

Have done quite a few rides recently. Sharing some clicks.

Some size comparo with the 1200’s

The Triple symphony is something different. One of the most practical sport bike to own after the Trident 660. I only wish it had a single-sided swinger, if it did, this would be one of the most eye-catchy mid segmenter out there. More miles to you, good luck.

Cheers!

Trip to Kopeshwar temple, Khidrapur

This temple was on my mind since quite some time. A rider buddy suggested this and we rode to Kopeshwar temple yesterday.

Left at 5:30 AM from home and reached around 11AM after taking couple of breaks. Took off after paying obeisance and revelling in the marvellous architecture of temple around 12 PM and stopped for lunch at Karad at around 2 pm. Covered the remaining distance in around 2 hours and was back home by 5:15 pm.

Few pics from Kopeshwar temple and recent rides.

The architecture which will leave you in awe

21k is a very respectable odometer reading to say bye-bye to the Triple. Lovely ownership review and updates shared over time. Thank you Abhi.

So what’s the new baby going to be? Has the colour RED enticed you too.

All the best for the next step and hope to read about it soon.

Chanced upon this post as it came in my email newsletter! Great short trip this one is. This is where I spent my youth days cycling around post college hours. The confluence of rivers near Nrusinhwadi, The fertile lands of Kurundwad and Chikodi areas, the lush green vegetable fields or the dark green sugar cane fields - brought back the memories. This area offers a lot of picturesque locations out of the ordinary roads. The roads dotted with coconut trees are one such sight to see. The season of bloom on Gulmohar trees is another sight to behold!

Looks like your bike is soon moving out of your garage - and you sure enjoyed it as much as you can! All the very best and safe riding.
