Honda CBR600RR is back; unveiling on August 21, 2020 Honda Japan has released a video on the upcoming new CBR 600RR on its official youtube page. The bike was not updated since the previous iteration and was taken out from market’s which had strong pollution norms. Honda had even said that they are killing the 600RR because the R&D costs were much similar to developing a 1000cc sports bike and it did not make sense for them at the time to spend so much to update the bike.
However in a complete u-turn of the events, Honda is taking the fight to the Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R and the Yamaha YZF R6. The front end design of the new 600RR is much similar to the new Fireblade, but carry the legacy of the 600RR with an underseat exhaust.
Below is the offical video from Honda Japan.
The translation of the press release is below Quote:
Today, Honda has pre-released information on its website about the new "CBR600RR" scheduled to be announced on August 21, 2020 (Friday) .
The new "CBR600RR" is a super sports model with enhanced overall performance, equipped with a high-performance water-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, in-line 4-cylinder 599cc engine and adopting the latest electronic control technology and aerodynamic technology. It was developed as a just-size super sports model so that you can enjoy the high potential as a base model for production races using commercially available cars even in everyday life. In this model change, the high output and easy-to-handle output characteristics and agile handling, which are the characteristics of the conventional model, have been further refined to improve the power performance on the circuit and ease of handling on public roads such as winding. We are pursuing "joy of manipulating" by making both dimensions compatible.
