Re: BMW S 1000 XR, F 900 XR teased

Always been a fan of the 1000 XR. Looks smashing! Is the 900 smaller or looks so in the angle it's been shot?
Love this video if the 1000 XR.

The front wheel on the 1000XR looks a bit comedically under proportionate. Guess I'm used to all the larger front wheels on bikes with long travel suspensions.

Guess it is much smaller than the 100cc difference suggests. 900 is a parallel twin and that should have advantages in packaging over the inline4.

F900XR - 2,160 mm * 860 mm * 1,420 mm. 219 kg
S1000XR - 2,333 mm * 917 mm * 1,411 mm. 226 kg

Huge price difference too. F900XR is priced at only $11,695 in the US compared to the S1000XR priced at $17,645.

Same issue with all these road biased ADVs - like the Versys 1000 as well.

The S 1000 XR is a litre-class sport touring bike. Its design is based on the S 1000 RR super bike and features twin LED headlamps, a digital instrument cluster and an adjustable windscreen. It has 'XR' decals on the side panels. The bike has a stepped seat and an upright riding position.

The X 1000 XR is powered by a 999cc, 4-cylinder engine that puts out 165 BHP @ 11,000 rpm and 114 Nm @ 9,250 rpm.

Earlier this year, BMW had also launched the F 900 XR, which is also a sport touring bike, however, it has a smaller 900cc engine.

This is the new 2020 S100XR - i think you are talking about the F900XR.

16L price point is quite aggressive - lets wait and watch.

Motorcycle looks great. At first glance, I too confused it with the F900 bike. At casual glance, the product line up can be pretty confusing at BMW Motarrad.

Also, you are right. They got the pricing right. I really see no reason to buy the Tiger 900s at all unless someone is interested in heavy off-roading and that long travel suspension in the Rally version.

Re: BMW S 1000 XR, F 900 XR teased

BMW Motorrad has launched the 2020 S 1000 XR at Rs. 20.90 lakhs (ex-showroom)
It comes with a 999cc in-line 4-cylinder engine producing 165HP. The whole bike is lighter by 10 kg than its predecessor.

BMW has tweaked almost every part of the bike for better touring capabilities. Only two colour options are available on the tourer, Ice Grey and Racing Red.

Just the opposite of the well-priced 900XR. 20.9L ex-showroom is just too much!

Sad because the inline4 tourer category is quite a niche space and there are no real options above the Versys 1000.

900XR 2 cylinders - 10.5L
1000XR 4 cylinders - 21L

Looks like BMW used direct maths instead of logic to price the 1000XR. DOA just like the previous bike.

Re: BMW S 1000 XR, F 900 XR teased

This bike comes with a whole host of accessories as standard in the markets abroad. Hope they have retained the same here too. Even with the saddle stays and a few accessories it is overpriced by atleast 5 lakhs. They are for sure concerned on money made with each sale than volume game. This will remain a niche product with a few on the road. Having ridden the older bike over a short spin, it can get addictive. 2020 with more gizmos should only be better.

Yes correct. This is a strategic move to push the sales of 900XR as they will poach potential buyers who are eyeing on Triumph Tiger 900 or similar. They know that 1000XR will have its own audience who will search for it and buy but their real target is to push 900XR.
