Honda has not disclosed the exact details of the new bikes. However, the company plans to start mass production of select premium bikes in India. At present, the Honda BigWing portfolio includes 7 bikes ranging from 300cc to 1,800cc. These are either imported as CBUs or assembled locally using CKD kits.

Honda is also planning to expand its Honda BigWing sales and service network to 75 cities.

“Globally Honda has a strong legacy of fun riding – be it for fun urban riding, super-sport racing, luxurious touring or even off-roading. Starting April 2019, Honda spearheaded its new premium bike business identity under the silver wing mark branded as Honda BigWing. Honda will unleash phase 2 of its premium business vertical in the new BS6 era. Customers can expect double the fun with 13 iconic global models including five brand new models. This will be supported by exclusive Honda BigWing network for sales and service in 75 cities.”
5 brand new models sound interesting. Hope they don't mean new generations of existing products, like the CBR 1000RR-R and the CRF1100L Africa Twin displayed at the EICMA show 2019.

Would like to see the new CMX500 Rebel on Indian roads soon - localized to be competitive against the likes of the Interceptor 650.

I think out of the five, three would be CBR 1000RR-R, CRF1100L Africa Twin and the CB 1000R.

And mostly two others will be CB300R and CBR250 upgraded for BSVI. Frankly I don't keep much hopes from Honda, seeing how they are adamant to keep the CBR250 and not even bring the CBR300 they are selling worldwide.

Re: Honda to launch 5 new premium bikes in India

In my view, the launch should have range of CC starting from 300 to 1000 CC. like, 400cc, 600 cc , 800 cc, 1000 cc

If all of them are hi-end (Read > 1000 cc), they are prone to failure due to low sale of high cc bikes.

Also, the bikes should be mix of retro and modern looks bikes. In India, Modern bikes may not have high sales due to couch positions. They do not suite for the kind of roads we have.

Wish the NC750X was on the agenda as well. Guess with all the news of a smaller Africa Twin, it will never be i guess. But for a country like India, it could be a reasonably priced functional bike.

It definitely won't be the CBR250 if it's under Honda BigWing network. My guess is that they would start bringing in the 500s and could manufacture them here.

Re: Honda to launch 5 new premium bikes in India

Meanwhile i read in today's news paper that Honda Motorcycle & Scooters India wing is under fire in Manesar for laying off 500 workers. Another 500 are inline for this. Am really wondering how come a Japanese giant like Honda adopt such double standards. Seems they hired lots of Indian managers with hefty pay packages and now that they were not able to justify their pay packages, they are shrugging off their responsibilities by blaming operations team for all their failures. How can they launch new products and fire manpower at the same time? Something seems seriously wrong with entire Honda as a company.

Am sure that many members in this forum will not agree to my statement above. But it is a well known fact that channel was pushed with lots of inventory and the demand was more or less static. The extremely literate sales guys presented a very rosy picture to the japanese management. In October 2019, the factory dispatch numbers were literally 50% of the vehicles registered at various regional transport authorities. So from where did these 50% of inventory come can very easily be figured out by anyone. Now that the festive season is over and the top line management will easily understand the antics, there has to be some face saving grace. The middle level, over-intelligent management getting fat pay packages has started passing the buck. The sufferers are the lowest level staff.

Instead of firing these lower level staff, fire some good for nothing manager. Company will save a lot with least pain.
