2018 Honda Africa Twin launched at Rs. 13.23 lakh

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has opened its order books for the 2018 Africa Twin. Bookings are open for the first 50 customers only, as a limited number of bikes will be available, each priced at Rs. 13.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Select customers will get a chance to watch a MotoGP race live.

The 2018 Africa Twin features Throttle By Wire (TBW) and a new Honda Selectable Torque Control system (HSTC) with 7 settings for off-road riding (level 1) to slippery tarmac surfaces (level 7). The system can also be switched off completely. The bike comes with a lightweight lithium-ion battery, which is one of the reasons for the overall weight reduction of 2.3 kg. It also gets a new rally style LCD instrument cluster.

Like the 2017 model, the new Africa Twin is powered by a 999.11 cc, parallel twin-cylinder engine that develops 88 BHP @ 7,500 rpm and 93.1 Nm of torque @ 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a dual-clutch transmission, which has three modes - D, S and MT. There are 3 settings each for power and engine braking and 4 riding modes - Tour, Urban, Gravel and User.

The bike rides on 45 mm adjustable upside down front forks with 230 mm of travel and an adjustable monoshock in the rear offering 220 mm of wheel travel. Brakes come in the form of twin 310 mm petal type discs in the front and a 256 mm disc in the rear. Switchable ABS is standard.

The 2018 Honda Africa Twin is available in a single GP Red colour option.
