Indian Motorcycle reveals the Springfield

Indian Motorcycles has officially revealed the latest addition to its 'Bagger' range of motorcycles - the Springfield. Named after the birthplace of Indian Motorcycle, the Indian Springfield features a removable quick-release windshield and hard, all-weather, remote-locking saddlebags (also removable), enabling riders to use the bike as a loaded up tourer or a stripped down cruiser. The quick release windscreen and saddlebags can be removed without tools.

On the surface, the bike looks very similar to the Indian Chief Vintage, but the company claims the Springfield has been developed with a different, trunk-compatible chassis that allows has a load capacity of 242 kg. The feature list includes a rear buckhorn bar, adjustable passenger floorboards, ABS, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic cruise control and heated seats & grips are available as well.

Like the Chief Vintage, the Springfield uses Indian's Thunder Stroke III engine that makes 138.9 Nm of torque @ 2,600 rpm, with the grunt sent to the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox and a final belt drive. Stopping power comes from dual 300 mm floating front discs and a single 300 mm floating disc at the rear.

The bike has been revealed in two colours - Thunder Black and Indian Motorcycle Red, with prices starting at €27,000 (approximately Rs. 20.19 lakh). When launched in India, the Springfield, like the other bikes in Indian's range, will be offered as a CBU.
