Re: Kawasaki Versys 650 launched at Rs. 6.6 lakh

Hey where are you lucky owners?
No ownership report up.....
No new ride experience, please keep posting for the sake of us still waiting types.
I know it is better to keep riding than typing :-)

By the way has anyone upgraded the Headlight bulb with better bulb or additional light ?
I have to start with ordered this only as a Conspicuity lighting from BANGGOOD website but shall eventually be upgrading to a proper Auxiliary lighting may be OE or Denali D4.

Like i said its about 13k per wheel, but i think its worth it looking at the convenience of repair.

I did not mean that Versys needs spoke rims, was just pointing out how it helps for offroading that is all.

Yes

Too much hassle and absolutely not worth it IMO
Like i said i was just pointing to the advantage, i never suggested doing that in a versys, unless someone seriously plans on doing offroad

Or just buy the upcoming Africa Twin lol

Nothing like that, i would prefer a more powerful bike for touring and adventure now that i am used to it. Just a personal choice.

Would be interesting to see the himalayan perform on offroad situations, maybe it will become the dark horse of the lot.

Re: Kawasaki Versys 650 launched at Rs. 6.6 lakh

Went for Breakfast ride yesterday with a Biking group called LLB to Kirshnagiri from Bangalore and back. About 200+ kms. LLB is a multi-brand Biking group however most of the members ride Harleys. We had a mix of brands, total about 30 bikes, 75% Harleys, two Versys, one Ducs Multistrada, a benalli 300, and a couple of 390s. The ride was mostly open four lane highway and the versys performed beautifully. I had just finished the 1st service on saturday, so could push the bike a bit during the ride on sunday. It feels planted on on the highway even at high speeds and handles beautifully. It may not have the mad pull character of a typical sports bike but pulls decent enough if one is generous with the throttle. The riding posture is very comfortable, a promising mile muncher. The wind noise (esp with closed helmet) is quite high at higher speeds. All in all, a nice ride where we got to meet many interesting people.

The versys is a mature no-nonsense motorcycle and my personal observation is that when astride my 390, the bike urges me to ride harder and harder, where as on versys, i just feel like going on my own sweet lazy pace without any hurry.

Oh so it was your Versys. I was heading solo to the KRP Dam and just dropped in for Bfast and the place was full of Harleys, D390s and a Ducati and ofcourse a lone sweet Versys! The restaurant was packed with bikers enjoying the Bfast & biker talk So I found a corner and quickly had my Bfast and left. Wish I knew you were there.

Btw, I will recommend the following spontaneous ride I did yesterday on my GS which will be a joy to do on the Versys as well.

About 3 kms after the restaurant turn right to KRP dam and from there continue further on the inner roads towards Alapatti-Rayakottai-Kelamangalam-Denkanikottai-TVS Factory-Attibele-Bangalore. The roads are mostly in excellent condition with the exception of a few stretches that are not bad but has some rough patches and thats where Versys owners will know how well their bikes can handle those roads unlike supersport bikes or cruisers! But you have lots of enjoyable twists & turns all along with very little traffic. Just before Rayakottai you can also hydrate yourself with tender coconuts

Small world!! There were 2 Versys, one could have been missed as the bikes were parked randomly because of parking space limitation in front of the restaurant. Wondering how i missed spotting the GS? Or maybe, you left while we were still enjoying the hot idli and chutney.
Have been many times towards Alapatti, denkanikottai on the way to hogennekal but this route sounds tempting esp for testing the versys. Thanks. Maybe this coming weekend.

Congrats Techfreak!! Good to see that you have already christened her. Nice name - what's the connection?

Wonderful. Nice to see a happy ending

As a fellow Versys owner, I'm keen to understand other owner's perspective too. Not sure if you got a chance to read my review.

Would love to know how you feel about the bike overall. Do share a detailed feedback whenever you can

Cheers and Ride Safe !!!

Re: Kawasaki Versys 650 launched at Rs. 6.6 lakh

Questions to Versys 650 owners :

1. Has anyone completed their 1st service? What is the total cost? What all was checked/replaced in this service?

2. What RPM range most of you are maintaining prior to 1st service and post this service?

3. Has anyone played around with rear suspension pre-load adjustments? Any feedback?

@mobike008
Yet to do 1st service, just finished 400 km only.... 2 days after delivery.
I am maintaining about 3.5 to 4 k rpm with occasional burst to 5k.

Adjusted rear suspension towards harder setting as did a ride with pillion to a 120 km ride in a ghat section. Had tightened 3 clicks. Difference will be known when I ride with stock setting, I am back to stock setting now.
