Re: Kawasaki Versys 650 launched at Rs. 6.6 lakh

Congratulations vprabu! that's one nice bike.

I like the colour on this one - is that a matt black? The overall black theme along with the large dimensions of the bike give it one sinister look.

Happy riding. Do post a review soon.

Best,

Re: Kawasaki Versys 650 launched at Rs. 6.6 lakh

Why is Khivraj so pathetic when it comes to customer engagement ? They fail to do even basic things to keep customers satisfied. I had a not so good experience while taking the delivery of my motorcycle. The sales guy just handed over the key (and the owner manual) and disappeared without having any courtesy to say something good. When I wanted to check with him on the fuel and engine oil level, I had to run behind him and get clarified. Around the same time, there was another guy who was taking the delivery of RC390 and the motorcycle was not even starting. No one was there around to take care of his problem. These are very basic stuff that any seller has to adhere. Very unfortunate that Kawasaki+KTM are associated with Khivraj.

For guys who are planning for new bookings, I would simply advise them to avoid Khivraj.

Not only in Bangalore, but in Pune as well. Khivraj has taken up the Kawasaki 800cc+ dealership so all big Kawasaki's are now sold/serviced by Khivraj.

650cc's though are sold by a separate dealer in Pune.

Thanks! Oh no, I meant it from the seating position point of view. You sit so high and you look down to see other vehicles.

Hi Shan_ned: When did you take the delivery of your bike? Which Khivraj outlet you booked at? They have promised delivery tomorrow from their Peenya godown. Did you also get the bike from there? Is it on TR or proper registration.? Sorry for so many question. Just wanted to prepare myself.

coming back to Khivraj, They have been thoroughly unprofessional with the entire experience so far. Not just you and me, a lot of people have been dissapointed with them. Hope they pull up their act and improve. :(

Re: Kawasaki Versys 650 launched at Rs. 6.6 lakh

Kawasaki India, if you are reading this, please open bookings of the entire Kawasaki line up, to dealers other than Khivraj. Sales is one aspect (which is pathetic and has been so since the first lot dukes arrived in 2012), their service is another disaster. The good thing for the 650cc and below Kwakers is that there are options to service your bikes other than in Khivraj.

Re: Kawasaki Versys 650 launched at Rs. 6.6 lakh

Just a word of caution while dealing with Khivraj. Check the bike thoroughly before taking delivery.

A friend took delivery of a Versys1000 2 weeks ago and rode home 400kms. After about 100kms, as he got comfortable with the bike, he started riding it a lil faster (less than 100kph). He noticed the chain noise increasingly a LOT as speed increased and the bike started pulling to the right when he held the handle loosely. The issues got magnified as he rode faster.
Kawasaki service personnel came down last week at his cost, acknowledged that the rear wheel hub is wobbling more than the recommended degree, the bike pulls to the right and did jack about it!! 15L for a bike that cant even be ridden and Kawasaki cares a damn!! This was a crate packed bike opened at peenya.

Cheers!

EDIT: I've had a bad experience with their sales and service team last year when I was helping a close friend with his z800. The only person there who actually listens is a Mr. Rahim. Their technician, Sunil is good at his work!

nasirkaka,
It was my Ninja 650 which I took in November 2014 from the Indiranagar showroom. For me, I paid the full amount and got the delivery in 2 days (after proper verification of the VIN/PDI and proper registration). I didn't go to the Peenya warehouse since they already had one parked in the showroom godown in the basement. So I had no issues in getting the delivery done on time, but I never felt happy with the careless attitude of the showroom guys. I was promised with fuel full tank on the day of delivery, but the tank was almost empty.

In your case, if they have promised to deliver your vehicle directly at the Peenya warehouse, make sure you be there to take the delivery. I guess you may have to get the TR since you are directly getting it from the warehouse. Even if you have to go through the process of getting the proper registration done, it is worth taking that pain rather than allowing the showroom to handle it. All the best and hope it is a smooth delivery for you . Best wishes !!!

Re: Kawasaki Versys 650 launched at Rs. 6.6 lakh

Accessories done. Took 5 hours for the install. Frame slider and top case and side panniers next.

Had some anxious moments when the engine guard fitment had some challenges. I wish the hand guard hardware was in matching color. It looks odd with its aluminum look. Have to check with Sean (Big Bad Bikes) if it comes in black too.

Those who are planning to order, please keep this mind. Also, only two sets are screws in the box. Not sure why! The photos were taken a while back. I will try to post the daytime pictures later.

Re: Kawasaki Versys 650 launched at Rs. 6.6 lakh

Congrats on the booking Avi! I think we are now going to be flooded with Versys ownership reviews. Let's see who's the first to put up their ownership review.

Vprabu : The Hepco Becker topcase looks awesome and of extremely good quality. How does it fare on uneven or bad roads? Does it rattle or make noise?

Waiting for daytime pics!

Accessories look nice! What challenges did you face in the HB engine guard installation? i was planning on the same. would be nice to be prepared.
Did you get a bike cover? i need one to save the bike from pesky and inquisitive kids in my apartment.

Contrats! Good to know that bike delivered what it promised.

I am all excited, as have been asked to take the delivery of the bike today evening. Lets hope all goes well without last minute hiccups.

What is the fuel type to be used? Normal petrol is ok or should go for premium?

Avi mate that's the same thing I did when I took a test ride of my Tbird500. Came back to the showroom and signed the dotted line in a flash. I know how it feels and your experience calls for same pinch. Let me be the first to welcome you to the ADV Tourer class of motorcycles(I know you have ridden a Tiger before but buying one's own bike is something special). Like your Maroon Marauder and Black Bruiser I am eagerly waiting for you to put up a comprehensive ownership report on the Kawasaki Versys 650 and yes it would be interesting to know the name you christen it with. I don't know but the brand Kawasaki Motorcycles has something that pulls me towards it a lot.

Congrats and I wish that you get your motorcycle soon.

This engine runs at its best with Shell (regular/V-Power) OR Reliance fuel in my opinion. This is based on my ownership experience (ER-6n) of past one year.

Good luck on your bike delivery today. Share the pics and a small report soon

I have never used premium fuel for my Triumph Bonneville and it ran just fine. I am really particular that I tank up only from renowned petrol bunks ( I mean not from small outlets that look as if they will mix kerosene in petrol types...I know being stereotyped but, not without a reason)

Interesting to know this. I never used premium fuel. Will try one-tankful to see if it really makes a difference

Brief Test Ride Input

I was even ready to book the bike even without a test ride but, it came as a pleasant surprise when they offered me the TD without flinching and I took several rounds of the building inside the gates and a small patch outside (maybe for a little over a km) and got a decent feel

It's a 2016 model. Was quite powerful, really smooth and darn thing moves side-to-side like a snake rattling back into it's hole

What pleasantly surprised me is the throttle response. A small twist sent the bike propelling forward and that is something very important to me apart from smoothness and handling. So it was like a no-brainer

Only thing iam disappointed is with color. V650 would have looked so much more awesome in Yellow/Black, Orange/Black, Green/Black. They had to give us this dull color. It will take a lot of cleaning and maintenance to make that color stand out

I stopped the bike after several rounds of the building despite him asking me to ride a couple of more rounds and said-Enough !!!

And, out came the cheque book a 50K booking amount handed over with a promise that 2nd bike in AP/TS will be delivered to me. Infact, I was given a choice to pick up the bike between 2 others that will be arriving next week. So looking at delivery in 7-10 days time-frame
