Its all about statistics from this point onwards.
Its cheaper to import from Thailand as compared to China AFAIK. We dont have a trade agreement with the Chinese; like we do with the Thai. Stuff imported from China should attract higher duties

re: Honda to assemble CBR 650 in India!

There's nothing regarding automobiles in the FTA with Thailand from what i've read.
The only parts i could see on the consolidated list was Aluminium alloys and jacks/hoists. Its mostly regarding trade of agricultural, chemical, electronics and small scale machinery from what i could gather from the list of 84 consolidated items on the govt's commerce website.

On the other hand, the FTA with CHina says Machinery, equipment, tools and bearings are allowed to be exported from the People's Republic of China.
I mean, if there was no trade agreement, how are Chinese companies importing and selling CBR 250R replica and other 150cc replicas here for way less than what the local manufacturer sell it for? Surely the duties applied on these bikes should have made them expensive than the made in India ones?

Honda to manufacture CBR 650 in India!

From my knowledge we have an active FTA with Thailand. Honda, Toyota, Triumph, Yamaha all coming that route, I believe.

re: Honda to assemble CBR 650 in India!

A performance bike launch from Honda or Yamaha is like arrested labor.

Very painful and the baby just does not seem to arrive.

Can someone please put me out of my misery and tell me:

1) Is the bike actually there for sale in India now?

2) If so, what is the cost?

Still no info about the official launch yet! All speculations and the 'so-called' insider info from dealerships points to an ex-showroom price of 8.?? lakhs, which should be close to 10 Lakhs OTR in Bangalore!!

LOL, interesting analogy, Doc! By the way, even after arrested labor, if the baby is healthy and fine, it should be okay, and no design changes will be required from market-feedback, unlike premature born babies.

Problem here is, arrested labor seems to be causing less distress to mother and baby, and a lot more to onlookers, both casual and interested.

Many a times arrested delivery has sequelae for the child, oftentimes related to oxygen deprivation, forceps injury (as you forcibly try to pry it out), or even suction head (similar to the booch we use for unclogging WC's ....).

I seriously think some booch is needed here.

I am one of the casually interested onlookers who was cheering the mother on to greater last efforts, lusty exhortations of "push, push" gratis, but is now increasingly jaded and wants to move on to something more riveting.

Like watching paint dry.

Casual onlookers usually just move on; much before there is even a hint of them becoming jaded

Its cool though if you wanna keep it hush hush

Ya you have a point. But at 8 lac levels, no point. Much as I think it would be a great bike to have. Honda has always been a snob about pricing, bike or car. Useless to expect them to do a Bajaj.

re: Honda to assemble CBR 650 in India!

I get a feeling that the wounded beast "Street Triple" may get a fresh life in the market with Honda keeping onlookers in distress .

Let me put an hypothetical question - If CBR650f price is close to that of the Street Triple, which one will you prefer ? I know what the majority will say and hope Honda (India) is closely watching this thread.

What is the Street Triple's current on road price? You're talking about the 79 bhp Street Triple right?
