@Celestial - Hope you enjoyed your 3.5k ride with new set of tyres, waiting to see your overall long ride experience (along with warm up time for new tyres, windblast etc).

I am a newbie and planning to by a Z800 in coming 6 months, hence following threads on team-bhp. Though learnt a lot about SBKs theoritically, no practical experience at all.

Re: My Mean Green 2015 Kawasaki Z800

Awesome! scenic drive. You might have enjoyed the drive and many twisties. So how did you feel when you are taking turns and at what speeds you were able to make it? Any plans to upgrade your stock exhaust?

I would rather not mention the speeds but I feel very confident around the turns, even the tight ones. No issues with the bikes weight. It was a pleasure throughout.

No plans to change exhaust but its always on my mind.So I may just one day get up and get it done.

Hello Celestial - Could you post the pictures of the Michelin Pilots on your Z? My Z is due for its 2nd service next moth - and it has not even clocked 2000 kms on the odo. But I think I will still go ahead with the oil change.

Ashu, that first pic is so tempting.

Nope, evil is the right word.

Makes me want to get out there on my bike.

I've always enjoyed riding in Kerala along the tea estates. The clean and cool air is so refreshing.

Eagerly awaiting the detailed trip log.

Here are my impressions about the Michelin PR2.
The front is year 2015, and the rear is year 2013.

Pros:

1. Changing to the new set has made the bike more flickable. This is an effect you feel as soon as you roll off.
2. The dry and wet grip is very good. I rode it flat out in dry and quite aggresively in the wet and I did not feel any lack of confidence while riding.

Cons:

1. Very noisy. Atleast the front is. I constantly get the urge to check if front tyre is flat since the sound is very similar from what you would get on a flat tyre.
2. Straight Line stability is somewhat compromised. Its not a big deal but the Dunlops were certainly more stable in the high speed straight situations.
3. Warm up time is slightly higher than the stock tyres. The only way I could judge this was how soon I start feeling confident after starting cold.

I expect them to last longer than the stock tyres due to the 2CT tech. Lets see.
Overall, I am fairly happy with the replacement.

How many kilometers has the Z done? Can you cruise at 120/130 on those super highways w/o much windblast?

The odo is currently at 12.5K. Waiting for the 3rd servicing to complete so havent been riding much the last month.

Cruising till 130 wasnt really an issue. Past that, depending on prevailing conditions, buffeting is an issue.
