2012 Refreshed Ninja 650R heading to India

Quote:
Kawasaki and Bajaj are in the process of bringing India their significantly revised 2012 model Ninja 650R. The inbound 650R gets revised styling; all its body panels being redesigned with styling cues from the larger Ninja’ while using sharper angles for a meaner, more aggressive demeanor and wider panel gaps for better engine heat dissipation. There’s a three step adjustable visor now, that requires tools to shift between a 60mm range and suite every individual rider’s height, or riding style. The instruments offer LED powered white backlighting, an analogue tachometer, plus indications for fuel consumption, average fuel consumption, remaining range left to ride as well as the addition of an economy riding mode indicator. The 650R’s ignition key slots in over its fuel tank, allowing clearer view of the instrument cluster. Sleek LED powered tail lamps are standard.

There is no ABS in the 650, it comes only in Ninja 1000.
The 2012 has better suspension and a two pipe frame and swing arm, for better stability and handling.

Some features of the 2012

Quote:
Redesigned twin-pipe perimeter frame offers proper rigidity, stable handling, a low seat height and improved aesthetics • Twin-pipe swingarm assembly offers improved rigidity and maximum style
• Redesigned exhaust system features a new connector pipe, a higher-volume 3-chamber muffler assembly for improved mid-range while maintaining peak top-end power, and a higher quality finish
• Redesigned bodywork features better aerodynamics, improved engine-heat dissipation and sharper looks that identify with the flagship ZX™-14R
• Easier-pull clutch cable design for reduced fatigue and enhanced control
• Revised suspension settings and increased wheel travel front and rear offer improved ride comfort while offering excellent compliance in varying situations
• Improved brake pads offer better braking performance and control
• New instrument cluster assembly features an analog tachometer and a digital readout module for at-a-glance information transfer to the rider
• 20mm wider handlebar offers improved rider comfort and control
• Redesigned 2-piece seat assembly features thicker and wider foam for improved comfort for rider and passenger
• Dunlop’s grippy yet durable Roadsmart II tires are standard
• Increased fuel capacity and more compact battery

Re: 2012 Refreshed Ninja 650R heading to India

Wish they reopen the bookings soon, that too for 2012 model! Any inside news on the same?
It still maintains a VFM tag despite the rumored (slight) price increase (~Rs.10-15k)
Also hopefully Kawasaki India would have planned according to the huge demand and not stop booking in one month after opening bookings.

Re: 2012 Refreshed Ninja 650R heading to India

The front half (from side) almost resembles the Ninja 1000. I love the Ninja 1000 for its Hawk faced design and hence have developed a liking for the new 650 The 2012 model looks much better than the current one being sold here.

Re: 2012 Refreshed Ninja 650R heading to India

The bike is for sure a VFM even if it comes with a slightly revised price tag. Has all the SBK traits and a very good step up to liter class. Hopefully they make the exhaust note a bit more peppier and meatier. And yes this looks pretty good compared to the existing model.

On road Price in Pune was 5 lakhs for the '11 model, likely you will need to add about 5% to that for the '12 model and some more for Bangalore taxes.

Cheers

Is this OTR or Ex showroom price ?

Whether service is possible with all bajaj dealers or only selected Ninja dealers?

They could have kept ABS as standard.

Re: 2012 Refreshed Ninja 650R heading to India

At least they should have ABS as an option in this new model, a big let down for me. We have ABS in RTR and CBR's, Ignoring safety features in powerful bikes is a big NO.

Re: 2012 Refreshed Ninja 650R heading to India

This is good news indeed, considering the bookings were not being accepted for a long time. The new one looks even more low-slung than the older one. This would be an amazing tourer for sure. Are there any changes in the tech specs of the new version, compared to the outgoing generation?
