The dealer will be offering test rides a month or month and a half from now. Am not sure how many other manufacturers will follow the same in this category. You may want to check on that to make a decision

BTW, what's stopping you from going ahead with the one you have chosen?

Decision made, booking done expected delivery date is Aug 05th. The search was for the Frame & Fork Sliders. My RD should also be done by the next weekend
That's another story for another day, 8 years of plannings & 30 months of execution

That's one aspect which they are not quite good at. Probably lack of experience in handling such stuff/requirement.

RD Stuff??? you will be bored mate...been a long labor of love for her. Still have not made up mind to pen it and right a post.

Re: Ducati Monster 796 ownership

Went for a ride to Krishnagiri this morning with n_aditya and rk_sans. We were a bit skeptical of the weather since yesterday's ride was cancelled at the last moment because of the drizzle. The monster saw mixed roads and had the misfortune of hitting a couple of small potholes. No visible damage though. Its just knid of irritating to dodge the holes in the middle of Bangalore city which sucks $$ from every corner and provides the pathetic infrastructure in return.

Anyway, this was the first time I rode towards this part and must say it has its fair share of long corners and some good roads as we move away from the city. I thought today's ride was perfect for run-in where you can encounter trucks, jaywalkers and signals at almost equal intervals allowing you to vary the pace just right. I don't I think rode the fastest today but the long corners were very satisfying to conquer maintaining a steady 100~110kmph with occassional bursts of 140kmph on the straights.

A very good and satisfying day

Woops sorry to read this, hope there is not much damage to the alloy wheels? or any change in the vehicle mannerisms?
How much have you logged so far? is it time for a service visit?

No damages at all. I was kinda irked to have landed into those because I was carefully and successfully dodging them so far.

Have been lazy on that front. I don't get time except on the weekends and the rain gods are not helping either especially on weekends. First service is at 1000kms and have just managed only half of it :-(

Good to read that she got away unscathed but yes be more careful with the bumps. Why don't you plan for a weekend getaway to Chitradurga? You should be able to cover the remaining distance and be due for the service schedule? Not a big fan of Mysore road considering the uncertainty its plagued with? If you are able to skim through it then you can consider stretching upto madikeri??? Believe the 4 lane work has completed and roads are simply too good!!!

This would easily consume half a day and am finding it difficult to juggle between the monster and family LoL. But I can sense that I'll be off for one long ride very soon

A small quick update -

I think I can brush aside my doubts/confusion on the fuel type to be used in the Monster. This morning I tanked up with Speed 97 and the previous one was a mix of 91 and 97. The bike now picks up the revs very smoothly and the difference though hard to put it in words is quite evident.

Aahhh the joy of being a vagabond has no limitations

So 97 is better and will be your liquid of choice?

In the city definitely since its available at quite a few places. On touring, I guess I'll have to depend on 91 itself but that would not be too bad because the first filling was with 91 itself although it was from Shell.
